Let's Get Together-The Aftermath?

Okay, I’ve not gone to any of the SDMB parties, so I can’t answer this question, but I wonder:

How has meeting the people from the SDMB changed the way you use the board?

Have any of you refrained from flaming someone or avoided certain discussions because you now KNOW so-and-so personally?

Did opinions of people change after you met them?

Do you feel any differently about expressing strong beliefs or emotions on the MB now that the “illusion” of anonymity is gone (especially if it contradicts someone you met and like)?

Any comments???

I feel no differently about the board after attending the Monterey meeting. Basically, it was just nice to put a voice and a face, etc. with the poster. I do feel slightly differently about one poster in particular, but that was inevitable IMO, and I won’t go there.

This life is a test. It is only a test. If it had been an actual life, you would have received further instructions on where to go and what to do.

Well, I’m more careful about how I answer some questions, plus I won’t answer questions in threads like the Favorite Sex Fantasy thing (or whatever it’s titled). All this mostly because some posters will be meeting my husband and I don’t want any ::wink,wink, nudge, nudge:: going on.

I know everyone here is intelligent enough about stuff like that but…who knows what comes up after you’ve had a few beers!

Hey, I was drunk! I’m not always like that, really. You gotta’ believe me. Ohh…you weren’t talking about me, were you, psy? (Sorry about that, Dem.)

The difference for me is that now I might have more of an inclination to go read and/or respond to a post if it’s someone I know. For example, if I see something posted by posterX saying “help me with this problem”, and I’ve met posterX in person, then I’ll go read it. Or if there’s a thread saying “Happy Birthday to posterY”, I’ll make sure to go put in a post for posterY.

But otherwise I think my posting remains mostly the same.

I think meeting them in person makes it easier to give them a hard time, because then you have a better idea if they take you seriously or not.

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

Was drunk? Like you aren’t now?

PCW, stop talking shit about me or I’m gonna have to take you to the parking lot! I’m serious!

But seriously folks, it hasn’t really changed the way I post, it only makes my posting even more enjoyable now that I know I may be discussing these things face to face in the future.

“Don’t bother to pack your bags, Or your map.
We won’t need them where we’re goin’,
We’re goin’ where the wind is blowin’.”

I have met and been merry with three people from the board, ultress, pcw and smug, altho not as part of an sd meeting. Knowing them just makes it easier for me to hassle them is all.

To answer the OP, I think if one of my close friends was a Doper, I would find myself posting less personal, more general things. But since none of my friends hang out here, I find it much easier to trash their good names on the MB

Oops! Now my face is definitely red. I thought Democritus was referring to Psycat, but I just realized that he was actually speaking to PCW.

It depends on which poster you’re talking about.

I give Ayesha shit here AND face to face.

You say “cheesy” like that’s a BAD thing.

Psy, PCW, it makes no difference. Demo is such a damn Net ho anyway ;). And hey Dem, remind me to kick your ass when I get home tonight for the drunk jab above. I’m at work, afterall, so I’m only buzzed, you jerk. Why must you always try to soil my squeaky clean reputation?

Alphagene and I had a brief but torrid affair before he went off with that hussy Val. Other than that, not much difference.

No difference really…except now I have more material to tease them about. (Speaking of which…haven’t seen Flyp in a while. Maybe that Proptronics computer finally broke…)

To answer the op, I find it doesn’t make a diffrence how I post to/about the people I have met IRL.

Now on to Sealemon.

Can I say bite me in mipsims ? :stuck_out_tongue:
