Hey, Doors, you may just be a teensy bit occupied in the days to come but you carry the good wishes and thoughts of a lot of people here along with you. I’m glad you’re finally off on your adventure. (Frodo and Sam just had to don cloaks and leave!)
Strength, comfort, resolve and all possible luck to you.
Veb
OK, it’s much later now and all the tears have subsided temporarily. Being the emotional person that I am, now that I have what I want I’m finding it tough to leave. Typical, yes?
Again, I’ll miss all of you, even if it is just six weeks or so. I’m neither nervous or apprehensive, in fact, I’m rather excited to get on with it. Let’s hope the scale lets me do that, since I’m a fat boy, which I wasn’t when this whole saga started, but anyway, I digress. What’s important is that I’m gonna make sure to keep you all posted every chance I get.
And, of course, I’m gonna miss you all very much. Especially MsRobyn, for obvious reasons, but all the rest of you as well. I consider you all to be part of my family. Thanks for the good wishes, and I’ll see you all in January.

Sir, Airman Deadman reports as ordered.
Get used to saying that. Well with Doors in there instead of deadman. But I’m sure if you say Deadman, they would at least chuckle at you before eating you for breakfast AND lunch. I dont know if you will get this in time but some words of advice if I do catch ya.
As someone else said, KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN AND YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND DONT VOLUNTEER FOR SQUAT! Dont put shit in your locked locker that your not supposed to have (even 6th week, I learned the hard way). DO NOT get on latrine duty. Buffer, shoe/bed aliner (if they still have that) house mouse(if your not the fidgety type) dorm gaurd chief (you can make a LOT of friends with this one). Element leaders and dorm chiefs jobs were for shit. Dont buy into the,“do it if you want a career in the air force” bull shit. That same goes along with your “ropes” in tech school, DONT DO IT! Unless you like being in charge(kind of) of a bunch of college age, first time away from home wankers. Ok that is probably to much info for ya and this was all 6 years ago so I’m sure some of it doesnt apply. Bottum line, keep your nose clean and your head down.

ADD: are jobs that are not so bad.
Sorry.
O geez my 100th post on a correction of myself.
Quote Nelson Muntz," I feel like such a tool"

Cheers.
Best of luck, all the best, here’s to you, etc.
Keep your polish handy and don’t smile when they yell at you.
But do smile when you think of home and friends.
Andrew.
I’m probably late to the party. Anyhoo, dude, hang tough and become a real airman. It oughtta be worth at least a few posts.
Well, you still here? Or have you been federalized?
Keep us informed, MsRobyn.
You bet. When I get his mailing address, I will post that I have it. Interested persons can e-mail me and I will be more than happy to share it. I’ll also post letters that I get (edited for content, of course ;)).
Robin
Ahead, Dave, ahead. 'Luck, pal.
I just talked to Dave. He did make it to San Antonio OK. As of yet, I don’t have a mailing address for him (he called me), but I will share it when I get it.
Robin
I ran up 500$ in collect calls to my ex (then current) wife during basic and 4 weeks of tech school. Just a warning.
dead0man
That’s taken care of. I got a pre-paid phone card for him, and I assume that’s what he used. And I can always get more.
Robin
Just wanted to say it was nice meeting you while you were in Houston a few weeks ago and just wanted to wish you all the best.
Good Luck.
I forgot to mention that stamps are ofter worth there weight in gold. So send him a book of stamps(NOT A ROLL) first chance ya get. DO NOT send anything in a box. DO NOT have his church/social club/whatever send him 50 letters in one day. Although its pretty funny to everyone else in his flight.
dead0man
So I guess sending him a fruit cake for Christmas is out huh. Those have to be packed in boxes.
Ayesha, fruitcakes aren’t allowed on military bases, mostly on account of the rules prohibiting weapons.
::MsRobyn hotfoots it to Dallas::
Robin
May the Steelers and Penguins win each game they play while you’re away.
Good luck to you, Airman! I hope all goes well and we see you back here soon
Zette
I finally got his address. Interested persons may e-mail me (click the e-mail button at the bottom for the address) and I will pass it along.
Please keep in mind a few things. He’s not allowed to receive packages, and he really doesn’t have room to keep a lot of mail. I am checking his e-mail on a regular basis, so if you don’t want to write, feel free to e-mail and I will print them out and mail them to him myself (and I don’t read them, so don’t worry if there’s anything you don’t want me to see.)
Also, he’s pretty busy, so don’t expect an immediate answer.
At present, his graduation is expected to be January 20, 2002, so if any Texas Dopers would like to attend, please let me know, and maybe we can get a caravan or something together.
