The Sox finally beat the Astros 7 to 5 in a 14 inning game played in 5 hours and 41 minutes–the longest in World Series history.
It’s looking like a sweep.

Ouch. Sorry, Astros fans. Garner should’ve pulled Oswalt outta there once it was apparent that he couldn’t get anyone out, IMHO. Or did he not trust his bullpen? He should have, since they did an excellent job shutting the Sox down until Astacio came in. Credit should go to the Sox bullpen as well for bending, but not breaking.
This is looking like a sweep when I expected at least a six-game series - but it’s still provided us with two great games so far. When both teams have gone so long without a Series win, you at least hope they’ll have more to show for it after three games.
Well, despite what I said in another thread, it looks like the White Sox *don’t *need Urban Faber.
They didn’t need Hal Chase, Arnold Rothstein, Judge Landis, or Tip O’Neill, either.
Not to mention Larry Sherry, John Roseboro or Wally Moon.
I’m surprised this hasn’t been asked already, but what is on Astacio’s face? My friends didn’t know, and the best I could come up with is a “strawberry” birthmark that one of my little cousins has on her shoulder (though, pinkish in color, and about 1/10 of the size).
That thing on his left cheek? Looks to me like a scar–almost a gash.
Congrats to a great team.
Just wait 'til next year, and all that jazz…
