Good job guys!
Boston won last year.
White Sox won this year.
Is the armeggedon coming?
Only if that other Chicago team wins, and we know that’s not going to happen.
South Siders everywhere are proudly cracking an Old Style.
Beautifully done, you guys.
Armaggedon will come when the Cubs win
I doubt this will mean anything to Astros fans, but it’s amazing that this was a sweep. The games were all close, and three were very good to great. I wish it had gone longer, especially because I found it impossible not to wish both teams well.
Also, I think Crede should have been the MVP.
Nah, that’s not Armaggedon. Armageddon will be when the Twins win the Big One.
Adam
I doubt it, the South Side is solidly MGD/Miller High Life territory. Old Style is the friend of the humble North Siders.
I agree that Crede probably deserved the MVP, if there was a MVP award for the entire postseason he’d get it by a long stretch. Special Mention needs to go to Uribe for his steadily stellar effort on defense. The guys arm is a force of nature and I can’t recall any one of those rockets hitting Konerko anywhere but in the numbers.
In any case, it’s been a hella exciting postseason.
What, again? How many Armageddones do we need?
Upon double-checking, the Twins won in 1987 and 1991. Guess you guys are right.
Adam
WTF are you talking about? Were you in a coma spanning the years between '87 and '91?
No, but I was 8 and 12 years old, respectively. You don’t usually keep tabs on these things at that age.
Adam
Well, you gotta be more careful measuring misery with folks who’ve been waiting for 97 years, things get pretty sensitive. It’s like comparing your Christmas Shopping troubles to war in front of a paralyzed Vietnam Vet.
I’m happy for the White Sox, but it sure would have added a dash of excitement if the Astros could have won at least one game.
Understood, and I’ll try to be more sensitive in the future. If it at all helps, I was rooting for the Cubs in the playoffs in 2003.

I had a Jesuit teacher in High School for a Bio-Ethics class, Fr. Digiacomo; he was at least 80 at the time (1999). When we got to the section on persistent vegetative states, etc, he brought up the necessity of having a living will. His stated, and I’m paraphrasing, "In the event I succumb to some illness or injury for which the current medical opinion suggests my chances of a near-full recovery are zero to none, I wish for no heroic measures to be taken . . . *unless * current baseball opinion suggests the Cubbies have a shot.” Last I heard, he’s still alive and waiting.
Yeah, how’s that saying go? “I wept because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet and he introduced me to a Cubs fan?”
- Cubs
[del]2) White Sox - Red Sox[/del]
- Indians
- Giants
No, no… I’m not bitter.
Not trying to pick on you or anything, but I was 8 years old when that ground ball squirted between Leon Durham’s legs out in San Deigo in '84. I remember it like it was yesterday and cringe at highlights of it to this day, so you could say I disagree with your assessment.
Anyways, back to the Sox.
Yeah, and early reviews indicate that #4 has a pretty good shot at getting off that list next year.
