So is anybody else here stoked about this incredible series going to 7 games? Three overtimes so far, and if fate has anything to do with it I expect an overtime game 7. Living in the heart of the lions den in Denver I’m just so f’n happy that we represented for an elimation game, ALthough I gotta say that the Av’s fans at the bar had class, me and my boys were 4 among about 100 but when the game was over they respected and bought us like 10 shots(which is why this post is somewhat disorganized). Well I’m just stoppin’ bye on my through to a Red Wings game win party, so I gotta go. anybody got an octopus? Stevie Y is God.
Am I the only person who was relieved to confirm that this was a hockey thread?

I second the “Let’s Go Red Wings!!!” The Wings are my favorite NHL team. As for the Avalanche, they rank right up there with the Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, Notre Dame, Miami of Florida, Florida State , and most Los Angeles teams* as one of my most hated teams in sports.
*-I can’t stand USC, UCLA, the Lakers, Dodgers, or Kings. I did not like the Rams when they were a La-La Land team and actually don’t care for them much now either. That leaves the Clippers, who I mostly just feel sorry for if I ever think much about them at all.
Oh yeah, and Stevie Y. is awesome! He has been a Red Wing since I was a freshman in college, and he is still going strong. If he is not the absolute god of hockey, that is only because that title already belongs to good ol’ number 9…Gordie Howe.
I don’t think I’ve ever been more psyched for a hockey game in my life. Wings vs. Avs. Game 7. Conference finals. Even if you are not a fan of either team, you have to appreciate this series as some of the best hockey ever played. Truly an epic battle, and I expect Game 7 to top them all. An easy Wings victory would be good for my heart, but I know that’s not going to happen and the hockey fan in my doesn’t want that, anyway.
Final Game 7 score prediction: Wings 2, Avalanche 1 (OT).
Why oh why must I have to work Friday night? Oh well, at least the radio broadcast will be carried online.
I had an appointment booked for 6:45 tomorrow night. Screw that! It is getting rescheduled, because I am not going to miss one minute of that game!
Gordie Howe’s got Mr. Hockey taken, and deservedly so. What’s the title we can apply to Stevie? Hockey God is a good one. Anyone else got a suggestion?

Man was that an awesome game or what? During game five I was praying this wouldn’t go to seven because I didn’t think my heart could take much more. But here we are at Game 7 and I wouldn’t want it any other way. This has been a hell of a series.
Now here’s my problem: I have tickets to David Lee Roth/ Sammy Hagar tomorrow night!! I’m not sure I’ll be able to enjoy my concert experience not knowing what’s going on at the Joe. Hopefully the big screens at the DTE Engergy Music Theater will have the game on instead of showing closeups of Dave’s sock-stuffed crotch. I almost want to back out of the concert just so I can watch the game.
What would you do? Here are the pros and cons: I already paid for the tickets to the concert, so not going would be a $30 loss. Whether I watch the game or not will not effect the outcome one way or another. However, this could be the greatest Game 7 in history, and do I really want to miss it? I haven’t missed one minute of the Wing’s post season yet this year, and I’d really hate to miss this game.

Hmmm, since I’ve relocated to Denver in the last seven months or so, I feel obligated to - at least temporarily - cheer for the Avs. Of course, I know naff all about ice hockey, so I should probably start with learning that, eh?

That game was great. I couldn’t be more stoked for Game 7. Peter Forsberg had a sub-par game, and you know he’ll come out with everything he’s got. Forsberg makes me anxious whenever he has a shift - he is so talented, and always seems to save his best for the Wings. For that matter, so do Sakic, Hejduk, Drury …
After Game 5, I predicted to my friends that the Wings would win Game 6, perhaps convincingly. Colorado simply doesn’t do well in situations where they are in the driver’s seat and don’t have their backs to the wall. (mixed-metaphor-cliché alert!)
It was Game 7 I was worried about. I had a bad, bad feeling about it.
But for whatever reason, I now think the Wings are going to win. 3-1 Detroit. Too bad you tried to showboat on that first Game 6 goal, Patty. I think it just cost you the series.
BTW … did you all hear the rumor that’s going around about that whole measuring-Hasek’s-stick thing? Over the summer, Avalanche coach Bob Hartley asked Hasek to give him a signed hockey stick as a favor for Hartley’s kid. Some reporters were speculating that the stick may have been non-regulation, which prompted Hartley’s blunder in Game 6.
Do we need any further proof of how despicable the Avs are?
(Oh, before I go, can I again rub in my fellow Wings fanatics’ faces that I have a framed, autographed Yzerman game jersey, which I won in a $1 raffle at the Wings’ training camp two years ago? And that back when I was a singer in a local rock band, I sat and had beers with Sergei Fedorov and John Wharton for about two hours, talking hockey? And Sergei autographed a rookie card for me? Thanks. )

I’m pulling for them. I live about 20 miles outside of Detroit. My life revolves around the wings. I’ll be one happy dude if they win on Friday.

Hmm… To add on to what I said before. I have a few autographed Red Wing stuff. I have a big Stevie poster over my bed, autographed in person. I actually have a picture of me and him, you can see the signed poster in the picture. On my bookshelf, I have an autographed Nicklas Lidstrom card. He’s probably my favorite NHL hockey player.
My dad owns a huge number of autographs. Not just hockey players, not just athletes, but almoast everything you can imagine. Perhaps 3,000 total. These include actors, cartoonists, athletes, and at least one nobel peace prize winner. And then some. My dad has a bad habit of collecting stuff. Heheh…
Although I love all the excitement surrounding an extended season due to playoffs… I don’t watch.
Most fans love this fact after I inform them I am a playoff jinx.

Mr. Ujest is so excited about Game 7 that he asked me what were my plans for Friday night (tomorrow). I fully expected him to ask me to the Whitney ( very expensive restaurant) or say that his parents were going to watch the kids so we could go to the movies. " It’s Game 7 of the semi-finals *and * the World Cup’s first game is Saturday *and * boxing saturday night."
I get the Oscars, he gets the rest of the year.
