The Red Wings are pissing me off!

No, this isn’t a pit thread.

They just went down 0-2 in the series…against the pathetic Anaheim Ducks.

Oddly enough, I am still(ridiculously?) confidant we will win the Stanley Cup this year. The Wings toy with us Detroiters like crazy sometimes.

The red wings will fall…and it will be the happiest day of my life…
…go blues…:D…

I have to apologise for that. It’s my fault you see. I am a huge Red Wings fan. However, the Fates have decided since about three months ago that absolutely nothing even remotely good will happen for me. They have clearly decided that having the Wings swept by the mighty fu**cks will be another good way to turn the screw.

The fates won’t even let me censor myself for the forum correctly.

Didn’t we go down 0-2 in the first round last year, before coming back and winning the series in six? It ain’t over 'til it’s over. And if it is over, it’ll only be over 'til next year.

Coming back down from 0-2 is something the WIngs have experience with, last year they did it to Vancouver. Of course two years ago the Kings did it to them.

Mwa ha ha ha ha, ah hah ha ha ha! AH ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha hah ha ha! Hee hoo ha ha ha! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!

I’m pissed. But I’m still utterly confident the Wings won’t go down this easy.
Er…what I mean to say is, I am utterly confident they won’t go down at all.

Happy

…Cloutier is no Jean Sebastien Guiere…that’s all i have to say…

I love the fact that CUJO is a non-factor… Boy am i glad he left Toronto for Detroit. We would have never won a Cup with CuJo in town.

I could care less if the Wings get far.

My Finals Picks are the Leafs and the ** Avalanche**

but I’m not wagering one cent, because those picks are from my heart and not my brain.

Let the games go on with or without those old time Wings. I never liked Chelios or Cujo. I hope they fail miserably, but the Ducks aren’t that great either. I think the series will go to a Deep Seven. I guess the wings need the money from the playoff gates to maintain their high salaries. Who knows why they’re choking so badly… wait i think HalderMensch242 answered that… its JS Giguere.

CuJo is not a big time goalie and never will be. Way too many soft goals in the first two games of this series, though I think the Wings have far too much talent to lose. Wings in 6.

good morning,

being a blue collar worker with little interest in sports, i thought this was a thread complaining about work boots…

The Wings got lucky last year when the Stars didn’t make the playoffs, but this year getting back to the finals will be much harder. I doubt that the Wings can win back to back series against the Avs and the Stars.

Detroit is finding out what St. Louis, Edmonton and Toronto already knew…CuJo is not a playoff goalie. He has had only 2 trips to the 3rd round in his career.

A friend of mine who lived near(and frequently visited) St. Louis told me that St. Louis Blues fans believe there is a rivalry between the Wings and the Blues. I’ve told countless people who live in the Detroit area this and none of them have ever heard that St. Louis is a rival.

The rival everyone in Detroit believes the Wings have is the Avalanche.

Is this true? I’m not making fun at all; I just think it’s interesting if there is a rivalry that only one side knows about. In Detroit, we think of the St. Lous Blues as just being any other(quite good, actually) team. No rivalry, no particular feelings other than wanting them to lose when they play us.

If there is a rivalry we are unaware of, is it odd that Brett Hull joined our team? I know he one time said he would never join the Red Wings, but he has. Since we have no rivalry with the Blues here, we accepted him with open arms. Was there particular ill-will against him for joining the “rival”?

I’d guess any Blues “rivalry” with the Wings is like many sports rivalries where the fans consider the team that keeps winning the title their “rival.” Like everyone in the AL East thinks the Yankees are their “rival.”

Anyway, after the '97 playoff series and the regular season the next year, I’d guess the Wings/Avs will be rivals in the minds of the fans even once all the players from those years have retired or been traded away. That was one of the best playoff series I’ve ever seen… and the right team won!

Go Avs!

Make that '96. D’oh! The '97 Western Conference finals were also good but went the wrong way…

I thought so too, but he told me that people in St. Louis have had the alleged rivalvry since the 1980’s, well before the Red Wings started winning Stanley Cups(we won our first recent one in 1997).

Back in the 1980’s, our closest thing to a rival was the Chicago Blackhawks. Even that rivalry only existed because both teams were about even in skill and Detroit and Chicago tend to be the default rivals when there isn’t a signifigant one elsewhere.

Oh, and Auntie? One of the single greatest moments in my personal Red Wings fan history was last year, when Patrick Roy let up 4 goals in the first period of game 7 of the Conference finals. They were effectively the Stanley Cup finals too, since it is quite likely that the Avs would have won the Cup if they had beaten us(we won the cup 4-1 I believe).

All I know is CuJo’s going to be kicking himself when the Leafs get further in the series than the Red Wings do.
Pffft, abandon your home team because you want to win a Cup. That’s what you get, traitor!

It’s okay, we’ll love you again if you come back.

If he keeps letting all these meatballs roll by, you can have him.

At least you aren’t freaking out like Chicago fans. I can’t believe they’re still booing Chelios. How many years has it been?
