Lets Go, Red Wings! (Clap, Clap, Clap-clap-clap)

I am going to cheer on my boys wearing the Winged Wheel Sunday afternoon at Joe Louis Arena.

Four free tickets (the best kind). And sorry, they’re all spoken for.

Didn’t get to a game last season after going to one each of the previous three so I’m kinda psyched.

The Cup’s coming back to Hockeytown. Get used to it now, m’kay?

The sport being what?
Seriously.

Voted Biggest Smartass by all you beautiful people!

You always use violence. I should’ve ordered glutinous rice chicken.

You know that all-over body shudder you did when you were a kid and your mom gave you the worst, nastiest, most bitter medicine?

I just did one of those when I read your post, android. I hope you’re happy.

Oh, ice hockey. Boring.
But less so than basketball/american football/baseball.

Yea! A Red Wings Fan! I hope they smash the Rangers on Sunday. Too bad I won’t be able to see the game on ABC. They’ll probably show Dallas/Colorado instead.

Darn, you are lucky Milo. And yes, the Cup is coming home.

boooooooooooooooooooooo

How much do I hate the Red Wings?

-I thought it was hilarious when they wheeled that vegetable Konstantinov out onto the ice at the All-Star game. All cheap-shot artists get what’s coming to them eventually.

-Speaking of cheap shots, remember Claude Lemieux’s infamous smashing of Kris Draper’s face? Also hilarious, and it made me a lifelong fan of Claude Lemieux.

I’m a Blackhawks fan, so hating the Wings comes naturally. Yes, I am aware that the Hawks are terrible.

I must really be a sicko. When I read the title of the OP I was expecting the thread to be about military VD.

I’ll scootch outa here now.

Pardon me while I burst into flames.

How in the hell did you manage to get free tickets? I can’t even get tickets for the crappy seats.

Oh, Techchick…Roy blows!

Die Hard Wings Fan Here!!!

After all my years of living in Detroit (well, Royal Oak)…I had to watch them win the cup in Cincinnati two f-ing years in a row!!!

THEN, I had to wheedle tickets to see them in Boston when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. I was quite a sight!

Now, I’m in San Jose. Mike Ricci lives two houses down from me. Fuck.

Would it be impolite to pray that the Sharks lose?

While the Dead Things always have a good chance at the Cup (with Stevie Y and the Russkies) it would be nice to see a defenseman play for them that doesn’t hit the ice with a walker…(exc. that Swede kid, I guess). Gotta love Larry Murphy though, even if he is a thousand years old. He’s played what, 1500 games or something like that, and missed less than 30 with injury?

BTW, the coolest part about the Bourque trade is that I finally get to see him on TV. I’ve seen him more in the last month than in the last five years when he was in Beantown.

Go #77!!!

As I sit here looking at the Western Conference standings, I couldn’t help but notice that the St. Louis Blues are 6 points up on the Wings. Let’s see we have the Super Bowl in hand, we’ll soon have the Cup and the Cardinals will bring the Series home this year. Can you say Titletown?

Ummm…I don’t get it. What do the Red Wings have to do with VD?

Adam

George Gray, too bad you weren’t the tree in Vladdie’s limo accident.

techchick – an Avs fan? And to think I used to like you. The Avalanche have screwed up what was the best rivalry in pro sports. Where’s Marc Crawford? Where’s Ricci? Where Clod Lemieux? Keane, Corbet, etc.

My brother and his wife are die-hard Wings fans, and they live in Denver. Talk about being in the belly of The Beast.

Shadowfox - connections, connections, connections. Friends of friends, usually.

card:

As I sit hear reminiscing upon two straight Stanley Cups, I couldn’t help but notice that the Red Wings never finished in first place in their division or conference in any year they won it. They do seem to beat the Blues every year in the playoffs when it counts, however.

The Blues do look pretty damn unbeatable, though. Without their best player, too (Pierre Turgeon). Things have a way of changing at playoff time, though. (best time of year in sports!)

Arg, look at the last five words of the title of this thread.

Milo/Diane: I still don’t get it. Maybe it’s better that I don’t understand, because it’s probably something gross anyway.

George Gray, you are sick and are not worthy of being called human.

Sue Duhnym…where in Royal Oak? I grew up in RO, too. (the email is not working for me so I posted here.)

I hate to break it to you but the Wings have no chance of winning.
To be honest, I was really surprised that they didn’t get Bourque when he was available. I mean he was the only guy in the league that could have actually raised the average age of the Wings defense.
I said this before last years playoffs, and I’ll say it again now…there is no team that can beat the Dallas Stars in a seven game series.
