As a displaced Avs fan working in New Jersey, it’s fun to watch Claud Lemiuex play again. But I must say, that no one from the east is going to win the Cup this year.
As for Detroit, it pains me to say, they have as good a shot as any of the top four teams in the West, but seriously, in like 2 years, the Wings are going to the basement. All their players will fall to cronic arthritis. They’ll be worse than Atlanta. And then all they’ll have are a bunch of green rookies.
I must admit, though, that if you go to the Avs forum on denverpost.com, all the participants are a bunch of idiots. Sorry, but it’s true. Their collective IQ is equal to that of mustard. And not the Spicy Gulden’s Brown.
Well, go Avs.
Hey, if it ain’t broke, give ME a shot at it.
Redwings - 8, Rangers - 2.
What an ass-stompin’.
The Borque trade really bit. Now all my friends out here are Avs fans. Cretins. The Wings’ll still take 'em.
Oh, and any team associated with Norm Green shall be utterly crushed.
Well, that was fun.
Except I lost one of my good Wings hats when Marty LaPointe got his third goal. Fling!
8-2. The Rangers ought to be ashamed of themselves. Play for pride; play for your paycheck. Something.
The teams play each other again tonight in NY. It will be very interesting to see if the humiliated Rangers come out feeling like they’ve got something to prove.
What’s up with the Original Six? With the exception of Detroit and Toronto, there’s a good chance that none of the other four will even make the playoffs! (Montreal’s the only one now that even has a shot.)
No excuse.

Is there any particular reason why you feel the need to dis my father?
Uh…unfortunately the Devils will be taking home the cup this year, I’m sorry to say.

Norm Green was the owner who moved the Stars from Minnesota to Dallas.
Letting my inner child run loose and break things.
So are you saying that he should have kept the team in Minnesota even though he was losing $4 million + per year?
Why should Minnesota have professional hockey when they were not willing to support it? Sure, there were about 5600 ticket holders who stuck with the team through thick and thin, and I feel bad for them. The rest of the people were only interested in seeing maybe one game per year(I remember that even Lemieux didn’t sell out the building), I don’t feel bad for them. In case you didn’t realize, but the year after the North Stars went to the Finals, they offered season ticket deals buy 2 get 1 free. Even with that deal and coming off the Stanley Cup finals the number of tickets only reached about 8100.
Professional hockey in Minnesota is not a winning prospect, in fact I’ll give the Wild about 5 years before they are sold or moved.
People there are more than happy with the Gophers and high school hockey. They have not done anything that shows they “deserve” a NHL team.
Hockey is coming back to MN anyway, in the form of the Minnesota Wild. You’d think they could come up with a better team name.
<sitting here in my Av’s jersey at work, rejoicing on the Av’s 3-1 win over Chicago tonight>
The cup will be ours, oh yes, it will be ours again.

Shouldn’t all talk about Claude Lemieux take place on the “are you a turtle” thread?
