It’s no big deal but you still got it wrong. He wasn’t claiming anything about paying black people more. He was saying he pays everyone the same regardless of race or gender.
I realise it’s no big deal but I don’t think I got it wrong. He was saying that he pays everyone the same, I agree (and I acknowledged that in my reply when I said “As long as you obey the law, no one cares what you think”). But he was making a secondary point when he said:
“you do not get a dime more because of your color or racial history”
It’s this secondary point that you are missing. We all agree about the main thrust of the paragraph - that he pays the same. But the subject of the above sentence must have been black people rather than white people. Otherwise why bring up the subject of color and racial history?
Since he’s talking about black people then he must have been saying:
“Just because you’re black doesn’t mean you’re going to get any more money out of me”
To which I replied - no one is asking you to pay any more to black people than to white people.
Maybe we need Don to clear up who he was talking about.

Maybe, but I didn’t miss it. I just think it makes more sense that he’s referring to the theory and statistic that minorities earn less. He’s saying he doesn’t do that, he pays everyone the same, and gives everyone raises based on performance not race or gender. You get a a dime more for being white, or a man, is what makes sense to me.
Is anyone else expecting Frank to show up any time now and voice his opinion?
ok I’ve re-read the post in question in order to get the context. Your interpretation robs the sentence of its dramatic intensity. I prefer my interpretation even if I’m wrong but I’m not sure I am. Many of the main points of the post are addressed directly to black people eg -
It seems reasonable to assume that when he used the word “you” in that last one he was continuing the usage he had used previously in the post ie he was talking directly to black people.

Well, I’m not convinced that you’re not right. He does seem to use the word “you” interchangeably. For instance in that last couple of sentences he appears to be addressing white people but I’m a bit confused as to what he means:
He seems to be saying that white people went out with a black person at some point and they should have married them but didn’t (or vice versa). I dunno. I’m white but I’ve never gone out with a black person in any serious way so I don’t seem to fit his scenario.
(I am currently single though and black women are more than welcome to apply for the vacancy of my girlfriend - and then we can split up and make Don’s prophecy come true).
There can never be a frank discussion on race. If there is one, there would be open warfare.
I cannot on this board expound my true beliefs about race, religion and sexuality. If I did, I would be either banned from this board or I would have a bunch of trolls on me calling me racist, anti-semitic or homophobic. I just don’t bother anymore because no one wants to listen to the truth that is plainly presented. Most people want to cover their ears and sing loudly or just say fk it, not my problem.
A side note, this message board has very little tolerance for any kind of free speech. The Mods here act like a bunch of Commissars scanning all posts for something that they don’t like. Pretty bogus since the idea of this forum is to seek the truth.
The problem is easy to solve but difficult to repair.
You can expect to say whatever you believe, but on this board you cannot expect to go unchallenged if you believe controversial things. If you can’t defend your position then perhaps your position has no merit

Insofar as you’re addressing other posters, this kind of post belongs in the BBQ Pit, not Great Debates. You can’t call other people ugly and insult them in this forum.
“Free speech” has to do with the government. The Straight Dope is a privately owned message board and can put any restrictions on speech they choose. :rolleyes:
And even the concept of “free speech” doesn’t guarantee you the right NOT to be challenged. YOUR right to free speech doesn’t mean I don’t have the right to express MY view, or tell you that I think what you said is full of shit. Then you cannot have an honest debate on race, what you gender is political correctness as not to offend any one.

Personal experience with other races
History
Sexual attraction
Child raising
Dominate Social behaviors
Percentages of a race
Credit history
Profiling
And avoid using words as: they, them, all.
Accordingly you have to pretend to be sensitive, caring, understanding, constantly side stepping, loving and smile allot. And you cannot wait to get home to your superior white family and friends. Ha ha ha— where you can be yourself, and say what you really think.
In my personal life, I have set up private charities for white children only, 100% legal.
I only buy from whites, 100% legal. I only purchase homes for rentals in white neighborhoods, and sell them to any one when the area starts to get mixed and I move on. All 100% legal
I use my freedom of association to be whites only. I’m a member of white only private clubs. I trained my children the same by example, so they would not be poluted in mind or body.
As a private citizen, leading a private life I’m a racist to the bone. I love my white race and the way I was born and I’m going to make it better to all the blond hair and all the blues eyes I can find including myself. My history goes back before recorded time, and we are still here unpolluted, and what I do in my private life, all backs and other races can do the same. It is called freedoms.
You want to know my moral codes here look it up, State statutes, ORS 2009, pay attention to chapters 163 and 164, in addition to contract law and tort law. These are behaviors that are “absolutely prohibited” under the pain of sever punishment both civil and criminal. What is NOT included I am a free person to decide my destiny for better or worse. And by my reference, I’m righteous and I have been all my life without exception.
And being rich in my youth by my own hard works, and filthy rich in my adult life with even harder works and wisdom, I do not have to kiss-ass, side step, or pander to any one, much less those of other races.
Where did I learn this racist attitude of mine, you may ask, it was not from my parents, I leaned it from the blacks I grew up with; only I’m smarter, more ambitious, and just plain superior by genetics.
But it is not all bad as you may think, though I was about beaten to death twice by Cubans.
As a Child, my customers were mostly of the Local black Baptist Church before I expanded my sales territory. They gave me protection from the Cuban gangs and black drugers, and other human filth that ran the streets.
The Preacher man said to the congregation in my presents many times, “Leave that “white boy” alone, he is a good one of “them”. Look out for him as he delivers the vegetables and fruits to “us”; he does a good service to “our people”.
There was always a division between blacks and I as to race. I grew up with it, so no big deal to me.
Anther good point perhaps, the Local black Baptist Chruch was the only organization that tried to up hold some sort of standards in the black community, but it was not nearly high enough for me, and I out grew it really fast. I learned my racial lessons well at a young age from the blacks where at the time of life it would do me the most good.
We are not the same, blacks and I (and other races), and we never will be. The most you will get out of this “white boy” is tolerance, and this is as good as this conversation gets. But I really rather have my own white country.

But this charge of insulting posters is pure bullshit. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that he hasn’t got a clue how anyone here looks so it is simply impossible to credit his statement as a bona fide insult.
If an honest discussion about race means the racists are not to be included then there is really no point to it at all is there?
