I’m entertaining the thought of having some sort of pizza tomorrow.
ETA: Apparently some call pizza “za.” It’s supposed to be a word that teenagers use. Or is it one of those words that older adults think teenagers use? My sister and I call pizza “za” sometimes just because we think it sounds ridiculous.
Replacing our water heater, the guy from work threw the replacement at me.
The one I was going to buy fell off the shelf. I didn’t know the guy could run that fast.
I tried to catch it.
Yeah, I dress out at 110, and I tried to catch it.
It was awkward writing a check, and not bleeding on it.
We replaced the A/C and furnace this week, because the new A/C coils would not fit in the old furnace, four bids.
$5,400.
You ain’t in bad shape.
Fried chicken tenders, garlic mashed potatoes, and black eyed peas for dinner.
Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) is happy.
She has gone to work.
My back hurts like hell, waiting for the tramadol to kick in.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 60 and sunny for the day. A cool Spring day, which is good cause we are doin’ yahd irk today. I imagine doin’ things like pickin’ up limbs (they’re all over OYKW’s back yahd!), mowin’, edgin’, and trimmin’ will warm us right up.
Ok, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and at some point I need to make brekkie. I’m thinkin’ scrambled aigs with cheese, bacon, grits, and toast as we will need fuel for labor.
We replaced our HVAC about 6 or 7 years ago. We did the roof, windows, and siding 5 years ago. The well was replaced 3 years ago (or 4?) All major appliances are 11 years old or less. I figure our water heater will choose a really inconvenient time to die on us. But it’s in a place that will make it easy to swap out with a new one, once we move miscellaneous crap aside.
We should probably think about replacing it before it dies or leaks. We know at the very least, it’s 11 years old because it was here when we bought the house in 2004. And knowing Murphy’s law…
Good morning! Stoopit Higgs woke up early today. I’m letting my sweetie sleep in. He saw the orthopedic surgeon yesterday - arthritis in the left knee, probably a torn meniscus in the right knee. He’s got an MRI scheduled for Sunday (?!?) The surgeon said he’d have to replace the left knee in 10 years or so, but until they see the scan, we don’t know what the deal is on the right knee. I just assumed the worst and went ahead and canceled our cruise in October. Even if he’d recover by then, medical bills trump vacation bills, and I’m not going into debt for a few days in Bermuda. Maybe we’ll actually use our camper this year.
No plans for the weekend. Temps will be in the 40s, dropping to low 20s tonight - and that SUCKS!!! However, now that we’ve got the motorcycle paperwork straightened out, we need to get ads out there. Plus it’s the right time of year for bikers to be shopping. In keeping with the OP, we’ll go out for breakfast, because it’s the weekend and that’s what we do. Beyond that, whatever happens, happens.
All brekkied and dressed for yahd irk. Now just waitin’ until there’s a little more light out. With luck we’ll have this done by early afternoon. Envy my glamorous life!
Up and caffeinated. It’s supposed to be 54 and sunny, so the tailgate won’t be to bad.
The one upside to apartment living is I don’t have to pay for this sort of thing. Of course, it’s a gas combo water heater/heater ,so some major surgery may be required. And Gordie will have to stay in his cage.
It’s sunny outside. very sunny. I should think the sun for showing me where all the little specks of dirt and fingerprints are on my windows.
It’s also very cold outside, there is frost on the ground.
doggio, did you promise Gordie a nice, warm bath when it was all over?
I’m breakfasting right now:half a Korean melon with bacon and yogurt. Yum!
The arrangement for We Will Rock You is a pretty cool one, although I’d never heard it before without segueing(this isn’t in the spell check dictionary) into We Are the Champions. Our group is sounding good.
It’s flippin’ cold here. I know it’s officially spring here because my heat and AC have both been on in the same week.
The repair guy came while I was here, so he just got locked in the bedroom. Just a clogged drain tube, thankfully. Wrong weekend to be without heat and hot water(It’s 39 with a windchill of 31 right now. )
I fell back asleep, this sleeping throughout the day is getting old.
My mother called, once again she goes through all the family problems even though I ask her not to. Now she throws in her deceased bf’s family problems too.
There was a time when I thought if I ever won the lottery I’d spend a lot of it on helping my family. Now I think I’d just keep my mouth shut and let them struggle on.
My older niece is the only one that works, he husband finally admitted (after going through multiple jobs) he just doesn’t want to work, y younger niece won’t work and her SO won’t work.
I never knew people could decide they just don’t want to work. My father always told me thems that don’t work, don’t eat.
The older nieces husband also admitted to having a drinking problem and has stopped drinking. Now his hands shake and my mother keeps saying he has the DTs. I said no mom, it is not the DTs, if he had the DTs it would be more than shaky hands and he would be in the hospital.
Then my mother says, with pride in her voice, well! you father’s hands never shook when he stopped drinking. I didn’t say it but I so wanted to say So what does that mean mom? The dad was the better alcoholic? He was the more manly man?
My mother really isn’t a stupid woman but when she says shit like that I want to scream.
She still says my niece’s husband has the DTs and no amount of correcting her changes it.
The younger nieces SO is addicted to prescription pain killers. She found out he was using their food stamps to buy drugs - literally taking food out of his kids mouth. She wanted to move in with my mother and my mother said NO!, she my niece took the two older boys and moved in with their father (and his girlfriend and their daughter) and the SO took the two younger boys and moved in with his grandmother.
I don’t know what happened to him, he was hard working when she met him, supporting his handicapped mother and sending his sister through school.
Anyway, I know I am being blamed that my mother won’t let my niece move in, she says she has to keep our bedrooms for us for when I have my surgery, so nobody else can have them. Not the truth, and she says she isn’t saying that, but I know her and how she is. Somebody else always has to be the bad guy while she plays the innocent martyr.
At this point I don’t even care anymore.
I think I should have moved further away.
