I just skimmed a bunch of pine straw off the cee-mint pond. Neighbors stoopid pine trees. HARRRUUUMMMPPPHHH! The dawg next door apparently took offense that I was outside and has been barkin’ his haid off for the last half an hour or so. Still hasn’t stopped.
{{{Midget}}} come post whenever you feel like doin’ so. Yay for gettin’ to see your favorite band and meet the lead singer!
I have to admit that I haven’t posted much this week because of the post happy things clause. hangs head
I did manage to achieve a nap with 3 cats and 2 dogs all crammed up against me. It was kinda sweet.
Other than that, this week has been the usual run of trying to get the disability insurance folks all of the paperwork they want. They always want more (and always will, apparently).
Next week, we’re supposed to go down to CA to see my folks, but I really, really just want to stay here and see the folks over the Christmas break instead.
**Sunny **- good grief, you’ve been her long enough to know the OP isn’t law - it’s just something to start us off. Post away, and whine if you need to. That’s what we’re here for!
**FCD **will be happy - the paints he ordered arrived today. He’s got some big plans for his car - specifically the boot and the bonnet. He’s so cute when he tries to talk European.
I picked the meat off the turkey carcass and it’s in a big pot of broth with some carrots. I need to add some onion, and the last bit will be noodles. There was a lot of broth, so Higgs will get some on her supper tonight.
Another accomplishment this afternoon - I trimmed my fingernails! I like to do that standing in the back yard - then I don’t have to worry about cleaning up the trimmed bits. SMRT, no?? Speaking of the back yard, there were 2 deer there when I let Higgs out. She charged after them, but she opted not to chase them all the way into the woods. Like she could have caught them anyway. Silly pug!
HAPPY THOUGHT FOR TODAY I am off all next week so one more day!!!11!!1
It is open enrollment so I strolled across the street and changed my health plan from the family plan to Employee plus spouse. Should save a couple bucks per pay period. I also have the option of increasing hubby’s life insurance which I opted to do so any savings will be used for that.
Big adventure today was getting out and picking of the 8 x 10 picture of the kid’s soccer team I coached and getting it framed and up on the wall. Still need an 8.5 x 11 frame for my Referee award (did 21 games this season, most of any referee in the region). Do that tonight or tomorrow.
{{{Midget,}}} just take care and we’ll be here whenever you need us.
FCM, the picture of Higgs (whom I have met) chasing deer brought a smile to my face.
Nut, never been to Spain, Iceland has some spectacular scenery, but February isn’t the best season. See what Brazil flights are like, Rio should be pretty warm by February.
In my culinary opinion, making broth from a smoked turkey carcass doesn’t make for very good broth. Just too smoky. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with all the soup I just made - maybe I’ll reduce the broth and try to make it into a pot pie or casserole. I hate to throw it away…
I think part of the problem was that I used hickory for the smoke. Cherry doesn’t seem to be as intense. Oh well, lesson learned. The next turkey will be rotissed, and the carcass will yield better broth.
Dindin consisted of poke tenderloin, baked sweet N.O.T., green beans and bizkits. Not too shabby plus OYKW has N.O.L. for tomorrow. Dishwasher is also completely empty in anticipation of its replacement tomorrow. A friend wants the old one, so I said I’d mention it since it’s supposed to be hauled off. I have no idea if that’s a part of the deal or not. If it’s not a deal it’ll live in the garage until after next week. I told him he must come and get it the week after Turkey Day and reminded him that I am not above loadin’ it up in twuck and bringin’ it over to leave in the middle of his driveway if need be.
MOOOOOOM I had wondered about hickory smoked turkey broth. I imagine a fruit or nut wood such as pee-kahn would make for a better broth. I’ve never saved the drippin’s from smokin’ before or boiled up a smoked carcass so what do I know.
Hey - I do have a happy story to share. I went to the DMV and it was easy and painless. I did not make an appointment in advance and I did not have to wait more than 5 minutes.
swampy, I’m sweeping pinestraw off my patio and walkways regularly too. Between that and the oak leaves…
Sis just called. It seems that my BIL has to be back to irk 26 December, so they’re going up to Dad’s the week before. I’m debating whether to change my time off to be there together or stick with the original plan.
A lot of things come to mind when I read either the word “neener” or TBHTHBHTHBBBHT but for some reason I don’t find either of them similar to our beloved Swampykins.
Training new hires today. The five who showed up all looked pretty good. The two who didn’t show up ------- who the heck takes a new job and then blows off the first day? The answer is ------ a lot of folks who ALMOST worked in Da Jungle.
Iffn you run the strips thru the shredder again, but at a 90º angle, you’ll get…
…confetti!!!
::Hic:: I’ll drinksssh to that. Oh, you mean physical rehab. :o
What makes think we don’t got 'em here. Had the misfortune to run into an ex-gf this evening. I asked her out on a whim; that was my first mistake with her.
Sticking around long enough to make her a gf instead of just a date was my second.
Okay, so I’m now settled in to [del]an old age nursing home[/del] the rehab place. On a scale of 10, the hospital was 11, and this place is a 2, maybe a 3 when the day shift is working, I’ll let you know.
