Let's name a hellebore for Unca Cece!

I’m a moseying… I think you could grow hellebores inside; they are really tough plants, quite hard to kill, except, at least in the South, with too much hot summer sun. They do bloom during cold months, so might not bloom best indoors, and, one of their virtues is their great flowers, before any others bloom. A good question, though, I’ll look into it.

So, Mr. Rosewater, if you live in an apartment with no garden space, and want a Cecillebore, it *might *work. I’ve no experience with hellebores as houseplants, though, and don’t know of anyone growing them indoors. But, these are very tough plants, so if you are just thinking “I can’t garden”, they are very easy if you have some ground space.

I’m going to give a shout out, again, for Barry Glick; he is a well-respected horticulturist, and his newsletter is always informative and enjoyable. Good info, no hard sale stuff.

Thanks for the info. I am in an apartment, third floor, no garden, not even a lawn outside really, and my windows face North. Not the sunniest apartment, but it gets a fair amount of light.

I am in favor of getting one of these named for Cecil, even if I can not partake directly

Emailed Barry – he’s only gotten about 30 responses so far.

C’mon, folks, I described you as rabid! Foam at the mouth a little here, okay?

ZZZZZZ…<SNORT>

What… …tomorrow…toast…Zzzzzzzzz…

I’m in!!!

You want I should bite his leg, maybe?

Only after you sign up for the newsletter.

(How the hell are you, BTW? I keep meaning to email you and see what’s up.)

Signed myself up, signed my wife up.

Although we may all be interested in this particular plant due to it’s namesake, wouldn’t the primary marketing stratagy for a hardy, early blooming, low maintenance plant be it’s general intrinsic value followed by specific color, size and shape with name not really being a primary part of the attraction?

Ok, maybe a flowering plant with a name like “Eau D’Roid” might not go over too well.

What’s in a name anyway?

Would a rose by any other name…

bump Are the numbers up any? Any news?

Nope. I got oddly busy with, yanno, work at work this week, and forgot about this. I’ll email him Monday – someone remind me if I forget – but in the meantime, we could spend the weekend beefing up the numbers.

C’mon people – don’t make me look like an idiot. Do it for Unca Cece!
