Arg. I had a busy time of it, starting with a week away towards the tail end of October, then a halloween party me and the GF hosted, and we just got back from time in Boston on Monday. I just re-read, and I’m caught back up.
Game actions I’m pursuing this thing, whatever, that got santo. I’m way out of my lands at this point, but do I have any knowledge of a creature like this? I’m wondering if it took off with Santo’s soul, or something like that.
The following people have expressed interest in playing:
Omi no Kami
RoOsh
Jimmy Chitwood
Dottygumdrop
mlees
If I’m missing someone, please chime in. As far as I’m concerned, whoever asked first gets first crack at it. I believe that would be RoOsh, but I could be wrong.
She’s taking option #3, so you swing at her. You missed.
She tries to touch you, but you blocked her with your shield.
You swing again, she tries touching you again. This goes on for a couple of rounds. You block her every time, and get in a few solid swings. You manage to hack her up pretty good, and it doesn’t even slow her down. Most people would pass out from the shock, but she keeps fighting at full strength. Finally, you get a decent shot in to her abdomen.
Guys, I don’t know your burial rites, so I’m afraid I don’t know what would be appropriate for a man of his station and culture. We can do what needs to be done tonight, but I also feel we should press on when we have paid respects.
The standard interment for Laranians is burial, preferably in a family crypt if possible. It’s a good bet that Santo has one in the cellar of his keep, but Kobing is quite a distance away.
I don’t suppose we have a way to preserve and transport the body with us…or at least mark the spot so we can come back for it later and move it to his family grounds.
YOu know a bit about embalming. Unfortunately, I don’t. You certainly don’t have whatever chemicals are needed to do the job. Would it do some good to drain his blood?
Anyone know anything about the subject?
As for transporting him, you don’t even have a pack mule, and carrying him would be a major hassle.
And just because I would feel like I was leaving some stones unturned if I didn’t ask (though I expect I know the answer) I don’t suppose that there is any possibility of ressurection is there?
Boy, try to Google methods of medieval embalming! The Internet is pretty useless as far as that is concerned.
It seems like the primary reason to embalm is to preserve the body long enough to display it at a funeral, which for nobles seems to be a day or two. Blood is not only drained from the body, but replaced with a preservative liquid such as alcohol. Salting the body seems to have been a common method as well. Organs are removed. The brain comes out through the nose, the eyeballs come out and are replaced with flax seed and the eyelids are sewn shut.
I love this game. You learn so many things that you’d otherwise never think about. I once learned all sorts of interesting things about shipping various grades of wool.
There is no Laranian ressurection ritual. Such a thing smacks of necromancy anyway.
I guess the question here is what do you do with his body. Do you hold some sort of service? Do you bury him, toss him into the woods, or carry him around with you?
What of his posessions? Knights are typically buried with their armor and weapons, but keep in mind that he was also carrying some food and a pound of silver, which must be paid back to Sir Chimin.
It’s still dark out. Dawn is a couple of hours away, and the next watch is NAF’s.
Err, so damn, it really is just us two right now. I say we make Antinor (since he went and poofed on us) dig us a grave so we can say your last rites over the body. Would either of us be capable of marking / remembering this place well enough to come back to it? A cartographer, I am most certainly not.
