Let's play a role-playing game

I think we should take Santo’s weapon(s) off him.
If we do need to restrain him, it will be easier if he’s unarmed.

Except his arms, as it were, are his “arms.”
He can just touch somebody - anybody - and it would be far worse for us, potentially, than if he had swung a blade. Particularly if he’s attacking a third party.

Unless we have first to disarm him of the sword, then stop his hand attack.
And can he use both the sword and the hand attacks?
(I don’t know the combat system.)

I’m finding it hard to make a plan here.

Where do we go?
Who do we see?
Who can we trust?
What is our purpose?
Why is the Goddess so cryptic to her Archbishop when he needs her help most?

glee, I can’t answer all of your questions here, but I’ll answer as many as I can.

You might want to ask him how much he is willing to disarm himself.

He can use both attacks, but not in the same round. He must choose one. As for defense, he can use a weapon or he can parry with a body part. If he chooses the latter, that might also count as an attack. (It’s the old “touch me and I’ll give you cooties” defense.)

Chalced Abbey. You don’t have much of a choice in that anymore.

The Grandmaster of the abbey.

Um… Each other?

That’s up to you, but if I may suggest, dig into the political situation and figure out who may have wanted you out of the way.

Did we discuss yet how King Miginath died?

Who can guess the motives of gods, especially when they are controlled by evil GMs?

Yeah, maybe we’re really evil and just forgot.

Santo said earlier he didn’t want to be literally bound because he wants to be useful in a scrap; I assume he’d say the same about giving up his weapon. Of courses I assume that because I assume he wants to eat our souls, but still.

We’ve been told several times that King Miginath died, but not how.

He fell down some stairs and broke his neck. It was rather ugly, so the funeral was close-casket. Princess Meliem and Sir Conwan were nearby at the time. The funeral was done right, as the Archbishop was in the castle at the time as well.

And this happened just before we four made our trip with the mysterious fifth?

It would seem so.

Are you all SURE you don’t remember being involved in some plot? Either scapegoats for, or masterminds of? /suspicious look

Is there a mirror somewhere so I can give us all a suspicious look too?

King dies in an accident - closed casket - succession controversy - prime candidates missing - amnesia regarding our whereabouts, our mission, and who our companion was - soul vampires --> ???

Well, obviously we wanted everyone to think the king was dead, but he really isn’t! We took him to a safehouse!! Because… because he’s a SOUL VAMPIRE!!!

Wait, shit.

Sorry, I’m a bit puzzled… … I was asking the party those questions.

I’d really rather have the NPCs (e.g. Larani) guiding us, rather than the DM. (It’s like you’re playing our characters as well. :o )

Oops, sorry!

I was just trying to roll up the pertinent facts you’ve culled from Urian and his men, Chimin, Myrtis, Larani, and yourselves.

You are free to act on anything you deem fit, with the exception that Urian is going to do his best to get you to Chalced.
