I heard this on the radio once *I think * it might go over well as a thread but I’ll see what happens.
Pretend you are a stock broker and you can buy, sell or hold these things. Basically it means do you expect these things to still be HOT in years to come if you do then you would BUY, if you don’t then SELL and I guess HOLD means that you would wait and see.
Also come up with your own.

Straight Dope Message Board – sell off the lamers, hold the elite, buy the concept.

Pro Wrestling – hold. the lamers that I sell off the SDMB will need entertainment.

VCR’s – sell. Unless you want to add one to your 8-track tape collection

Reality TV – sell. I wouldn’t miss it.

Rap Music – hold. People still listen to the Beatles.

Religion – buy. I think of myself as fairly religious, and most of the people I meet who aren’t religious seem to be rebelling (and quite rightly, too) against the extremes of certain organized religions.

Hillary Clinton – sell, for the curious reason that people with her intelligence should never go into politics. For the same reason that pro wrestlers should never go into movies (or politics; have you seen Jesse Ventura’s look, lately?)

I’m gonna assume a time frame of two years:
Paris Hilton - an easy sell. Are there put options available on her? She may still be famous but not AS famous. She doesn’t have the talent or personality to take herself much farther than Simple Life.
