Let's play Scrabble(TM)!

Hey, the Philadelphia Water Department definitely appreciated that game we played.

You’re going to have to explain that to me, just like you explained that supercalifragilisticexialidoscious is a word.

You’re missing a “p” there.

Just wanted you to know that if any money had passed hands – not that it did, of course – said money would not have been frittered away.

[Sour grapes]I think the reason Mrs. Plant like Scrabuwhatchamacallit is that you can cheat. With a board and tiles, she spells it, Mr. Plant challeneges, (That’s not a word, Baby) you check the dictionary and lose your turn. Online, you (well, me, too) sit there plugging in letters until something works.[/sour grapes]

Not me,only time I “plug in” letters is when I think its a word and am mistaken(which ain’t very often).

I play on Facebook. Anyone else?

Scrabulous.com is where we are playin…is that the one at facebook?

Ah. I discovered an app for facebook.

Hey twicks ~

Under the User Statistics, there is a Rating. (One for each dictionary). What does it mean? Mine says 1800. I couldn’t find this answer on the Scrabulous site.

I’ve played the Solitaire scrabble on the site for a while now, and just played my first online game with a real human last nite. Fun!

BTW my opponent says that if the game freezes up during play, to re-enter the room and challenge the person again; then the game picks up where you left off. According to her.

They give you 1800 points to start – you then lose points (a lot, to begin with) when you lose games, and gain points when you win games – there are more ratings points at stake to gain when you’re playing someone significantly higher than you, and more to lose when you’re playing someone significantly lower than you. When a challenge box pops up, it tells you how many rating points are at stake. Note that it’s straight win-or-lose – you don’t get more rating points for beating the pants off someone than you do for eking out a narrow win.

I wasn’t paying attention to ratings at all when I started playing there, so plummeted to 1000 points or so – have since built my rating back up, I’m right around 1600 now in TWL, which is the dictionary I usually play (been fluctuating between 1590 and 1610 for the last few days). They’re a reasonably accurate indicator of how good a player someone is – I personally like playing someone right around my skill level. If they’re a lot less capable, it’s no fun – and if they’re skunking me right and left, that’s no fun either. I win about 2 games out of 3. (62.31% win rate, according to my statistics – which also keeps a record of your bingos, BTW.)

Yes, if you freeze, you can just log out and go back in – then right-click on the other player’s name to challenge him or her, it will say “you have an adjourned game, do you want to finish it?” and you say yes.

I’m playing as twickster there – usually in Coffee House or Cloud Nine. Feel free to come by and play a game if you’d like

Ah. Thanks for the explanations and the invite. I will certainly look for you when I’m there. I play as NinetyWt.

I don’t know if I’m as talented as you - I used to be rather good when I lived at home with my family - we were all taught by my Dad who is a dreadnought of a Scrabble player. However I haven’t played in ages, so I’m a bit rusty. You may have to bear with me!

Anybody online want to play???

Oh well, maybe later.

I’ll look for any Doper names next time I’m playing. Do you go by bufftabby there, too? And any specific room?

Say -

If we each post what screen name we use, then we could each build a buddy list. It shows when your buddies are online. Did y’all already talk about this?

I’ve actually never played, but I’ve played Scrabble, like 80 bajillion times. I’m signed up over there as bufftabby as well.

Added. Anyone else?

I’m innerstickler over there, but I’m not very good.

I play as the same name as here.

I play as cwmorrow. I am an easy mark.

And he is very, very good.
