Yeah the sign was posted before Jeanne. I’d like to see if they’ve updated it.
Hey! A Fliridian with power!
(ok, I’m an ass… I do hope reconstruction goes well there and that you can all get on with everyday life)
Bamadoper here–one who got to see Ivan eye to eye! We’ve just had to deal with ONE, I can’t imagine having to go through FOUR!! My sympathies, guys!
We just got power back on Sunday (ironically, I could WALK to the power company to pay my bill, and we were one of the last in this part of town to get power back!) and, though we had generators, I’m glad to have my AC and dishwasher back! And it’s nice to have electricity without all the noise! Still, we had little to complain about, seeing that there were huge trees down all over our yard and only one hit the house, causing relatively minor damage! And best of all, we never lost our water, and it was CLEAN water! So as I said before–no complaints! I just never want to be around during another one–gusts here got to about 165 mph, and that’s a bit scary, even if you’re in a two-story cinderblock house!
Things always seem funny when you are sitting on the throne.
Another Floridian checking in (and yes, I thought the thread title was funny). This is the second of the 4 storms that passed right over me and once again I emerged unscathed. I’m lucky. This time I didn’t even lose power, phone or internet service. It was just a long, boring Sunday stuck inside my house watching TV and listening to the wind howl.
Wow, a Spring Hill Doper! Do you drink beer? You’ve got an awesome Belgian style brewery in your neck of the woods.
You know, guys, I’m thinking maybe it’s time for a FloriDope… we’ve been through a lot in the last couple months, and it might be fun times…
…if anyone thinks this is a good idea, feel free to start a thread.
Sure, we can rename it, but as this is an upscale kind of place, you’ll have to pronounce it the French way.
It looks like Tallahassee was one of the few places spared from the full ferocity of any of these hurricanes - this time. It must be several cases of massive luck. Through all of it, power in our area of the city only went out this past Monday, from 10 AM to 9:45 PM, after the storm had already passed overnight! The internet went out on Sunday night, though. So we really haven’t been inconvenienced at all, by comparison. Our hearts go out to the rest of the Floridians who had to deal with these storms.
Whatever happened to the idea of a TallyDope? There were plans to meet and everything, then it kind of died on the vine. Is there still any interest in it?
I know that my sister, Harmless, and I are still interested. Let’s plan the darn thing already! I think the problem we had the last time was that we didn’t plan far enough in advance (IIRC we only had a few day’s notice). We should shoot for a date at least a couple of weeks away.
Nope, can’t stand the stuff. Too bad for me, apparently. Are you referring to St. Sebastian’s (I think that’s what it’s called)? That’s the only brewery I know of around here.
Yep, that’s the one, although I think that it’s spelled St. Sebastiaan’s. They have four styles on tap, in case you just don’t like the wheat style. The food is also pretty decent. Beyond that I know next to nothing of Spring Hill. We did go and search for Hernando Beach once; now I believe that the place name is a bit of a hoax.
