@Stringbean: Bye. I’m glad to see you go.
@iiandyiiii: Your considerable efforts in combating ignorance (no cite needed) makes me feel like an asshole, you asshole!

Your kind words are much appreciated! Thank you.
You’re a good poster. It’s noteworthy you take the time to actually discuss your positions with people, rather than just dismissing their views. And on a personal level I appreciate your willingness to go to bat for women. Your vocal feminism is one of the reasons I know this place isn’t filled with misogynist assholes.
We’re all assholes sometimes, but there are certain people who make it a habit.
Thank you! Such kind words are very gratifying and reinforce my love for the Dope!
There is nothing intellectually rigorous or intellectually honest about how you conducted yourself in the Sexism thread (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=20331329), if that is what this is all about.
And there is nothing intellectually rigorous and intellectually honest about this OP either.
Someone criticized you for a sexist remark, and you went straight to the rails, rending your clothes and crying about the oh so unjust oppression of you.
The OP was a mild criticism, and you could have answered it with rational acceptance. Instead, you chose to blow it out of proportion, and threw every reactionary pejorative at the wall you could think of.
And no matter how many attempts were made to bring you down to actual conversation, an actually honest intellectual engagement, you ignored all of it.
This thread, if it’s serious at all, represents nothing more than a petulant fingers-in-the-ears nah-nah-nah-I-can’t-hear-you.
The Czech judge gives it a 4.4
Right. Sorry OP dude, but ***that ***sort of bullshit IS asking for it, and you should be able to see how it brings disrepute upon holders of conservative values when you self-proclaim to be one of them. There are solid conservatives out there who do not feel the need to bait in such a manner.
Jesus, glad I missed the sexism thread.
Although it reinforces my point that most people here are great, because the ‘‘reasonable person’’:’‘asshole’’ ratio was pretty high.
The first flounce I remember seeing here was Stranger on a Train. He only managed to stick it for about a month, though.
Jeez, Stringbean. I just hope you’re there for Green Bean and little Lima when they need you.
As I’ve said, the ONLY people who use that word are Alt-Right assholes.
Just one of those terms where you hear someone say it and you go “Oh”, your heart sinks a little bit and you know the person isn’t going to be a good person and there isn’t going to be any productive conversation.
That completely changes my view point. I’m glad he’s gone. Anybody who can use that term in seriousness is not somebody who is going to be intellectually honest and interesting.
For me it’s like being under the impression I was speaking with an adult, only to learn my conversational partner is thirteen. Some knowledge can’t be explained; only learned as you grow up.
Conservatives will always be vulnerable to moral grand-standing by progressives, lefties, liberals, moderates, moderate libertarians or whatever the ultra-statists wish to call themselves. This is because they have largely bought into the idea that the progressives et al. have the moral high ground. They believe that egalitarianism is a good idea, but not practical. They believe government can and should sculpt society into an ideal form, but their form is maybe a little different. They believe government should end sin and deliver salvation. These beliefs are foundational to today’s politics, at least to 95% of the politically aware.
The progressives et al. know that calling you a racist is effective. They know that appealing to your desire for equality or homogeneity is effective. They know they can browbeat you all day long
Being only slightly familiar with the term, I understand the “asshole” part, but no the “alt-right” part. Can you elaborate? I had the general impression that it was what a lot of “kids these days” were saying, but not particularly because of politics.
But thank Og we have you around to save us from ourselves!!
When you leave, make sure you take that strawman with you. You’ll need it in your next safe space. Happy trails, snowflake.
I wonder what it must be like being the one enlightened and aware person wandering through a world of sheep. Praise to you for continuing to try to bring wisdom to all of us dolts, despite the incredible disdain you very clearly hold for pretty much all of us.
As I explained elsewhere and from my experience with Alt-Right people.
They are racists and sexists, but believe that their position is logical and rational. That Black people (and most other minorities) are demonstrably inferior. That women are demonstrably inferior to men. That taking actions to reduce racism and sexism are favoritism and only exacerbate the problem. That if we all just stopped talking about it, everything would be fine.
As the Wikipedia page says;
“Alt-right beliefs have been described as isolationist, protectionist, antisemitic, and white supremacist, frequently overlapping with Neo-Nazism, nativism and Islamophobia, antifeminism and homophobia, right-wing populism, and the neoreactionary movement. The concept has further been associated with multiple groups from American nationalists, neo-monarchists, men’s rights advocates, and the 2016 presidential campaign of Donald Trump.”
The term they use, which I do not repeat, refers to men who enjoy being subjugated by women and other men. This is their highest insult, because real men are powerful and never accept subordination. Except to the real rich and powerful, who deserve their positions, who have earned their positions.
Basically, Heterosexual White Men are the highest form of Humanity and everyone else is clearly, rationally and logically inferior.
It’s a magical term that somehow manages to insult both women and men simultaneously.
If Stringbean doesn’t consider himself alt-right then I won’t call him alt-right (especially when he’s opposed alt-right politicians like Trump, at least as far as I can tell). But terms like “beta cuck” are just stupid and asshole-ish, and I’m perfectly fine with characterizing them that way.
