I usually don’t bother to watch Letterman to the bitter end every night, so I don’t know exactly how long this has been going on, but for more than a month, during the credits at the end of every show I’ve seen, the New York City cityscape thing goes up, and behind it is a red-headed middle-aged woman smiling and waving. Then announcer Alan Kalter comes out and gives her a bunch of roses.
What’s up with this? Does anyone know who she is, or what it’s all about?
I think it is supposed to be leading lady taking a Broadway curtain call. It’s no one in particular. It’s a classic Letterman non-joke joke, as much as always having the Hula Hoop Girl & Grinder Girl accompany “Is This Anything?” and “Will It Float?”.
