Letters/packages "To Any Soldier" (or sailor, Marine, Airman)

If you send a letter or package, PLEASE be sure it has a legible name and return address. As much as we would love to send a “Thank You” note, it is sometimes just not possible. The last thing any of us want is for you to think the recipient is an ingrateful jerk.

I’m a deployed soldier and I just got a package from a sixth grade class. It came with letters from several students who donated items. I’ve received packages like this before, along with letters. You really do not know how much we appreciate these. The items sent could be anything; just knowing that we are remembered is what really cheers us up.

I realize this is kinda late, but I just got the package last night.

oops. didn’t mean to diss the Sailors

1kBR Kid, Noted. Thanks for the advice, I’m sure it will be well taken.

Also, I saw on the news tonight that AOL is trying to help get letters to the soldiers, too.

The address that you can use is:
Writethetroops@aol.com

(And as much as I hate AOL, I have to give them thanks for this service.) Watching the news tonight was hard, as they played tapes of so many people that just wanted to say hi to their families back in the States.

What is the full address we should send letters/packages to?

Kyla-

I believe that the deadline for sending letters id Jan 16th, but I could be wrong.

A Google search turned up websites where e-mail messages can be sent, but remember that many deployed soldiers have little or no internet access. A real letter can be handed to a service member anywhere, anytime.

Thank you Kyla. I just can’t tell you how much your letter will mean to a soldier who is far from home.

I thought that program was cancelled after the Anthrax scare! I sent a letter and it was returned to me. :frowning: Did they start it up again?
