Lute Skywatcher started this Pit thread a year ago, pointing out that Lexus wasn’t the first car company to put moving headlights on one of their vehicles. They’ve decided to admit where they got their idea from.

A nice feature, something that was not seen in the U.S. since the 1948 Tucker but is now also available on other models, is the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS), what Preston Tucker would have called steer-able headlights. The system uses an on-board processor that calculates a more optimum angle to illuminate a turn, and swivels the headlamp closest to the turn accordingly, allowing drivers to see around corners better. It comes on all RX 330s with HID headlamps.

Considering that Toyota now owns a Tucker, I wonder what “new and revolutionary” ideas they’ll come up with next. :rolleyes:

Of course, Mercedes and BMW had this type of headlight on their high-end models for years before Lexus started using them. But I doubt they’d want to admit that…

Tuckerfan: The moving headlight is the most obvious feature, but if you had to make a list, what would you name as the five or so other most significant technical advances in the Tucker?
