Apparently he thinks he can ingratiate himself back here by lying about his time on the other boards. Which is typical sleazy behavior.
I believe that rule was rescinded so that people could snark about Free Republic and other sites. There certainly hasn’t been any attempt to moderate those types of threads.
Not to mention by poisoning the well (“I know, for example, that this post will be met with a storm of criticism, word ripping, and ridicule”) so deeply the entire Pit might have to be declared a Superfund site.
I don’t want to get involved in this whole mess, and I certainly don’t want to butt heads with Liberal. But I will also stand up and be counted in saying that he is lying about and selectively editing what happened on those other boards. Snarkers, yes. The rest - some bits are true, some are made up, and everything is cleverly woven together and swept over.
I am tired of this behavior. I was happy when he was gone and took his drama with him. I hate drama.

Splinter factions come and go as the socio-political climate ebbs and wains within a large community but a community that as a whole is stronger than the sum of it’s parts will survive, sometimes a little scarred up, but relatively intact.
In the mean time personal growth and communal evolution is inevitable which brings the community into the next level independant of the medium.
Which reminds me: Does the search work here yet? Board any faster than it used to be? How’s that WYSIWYG working out? I won’t get into moderation and governance when it loses impartiality, just keep going on the knowledge that, as other petty and personal issues ebb and flow so will bias, yet the community remains.

Because of that, it’s really impossible to discuss the matter fully without some reference to activities on other boards. Therefore, I will allow discussion of Liberal’s conduct on other boards in this thread only. Please note, the fact that I have relaxed one rule in this thread does not imply that other rules will be similarly relaxed. All other board and forum rules apply here. **

To speak up for the domebo folks, most of the so-called “snarkers” were permitted to post, provided they follow the rules. ANYONE can post there (as well as here, of course!), as long as you follow the rules. Which they did. Most of the nasty stuff was in the Domebo version of the Pit. And no, the rules were not changed day to day.
Basically, Lib was pissed because
a.) he had to stand up for himself and the mods wouldn’t ban the “snarkers” (whoever the hell they were) even though they were following the rules
b.) we kept telling him to get over it and just ignore them
c.) he didn’t like the way the board was developing and
d.) he interpreted people telling him that the only reason the “snarkers” kept bothering him because he reacted as “telling a rape victim she deserved it because she wore a short skirt.”

Liberal is making a mountain out of molehill – most of the trolls he’s talking about are, for the most part, pretty damned pathetic. (But pretty damned amusing, I will say that) Hell, I’VE been a target, (as have most of the posters), and I think it’s damned funny.
I’m going to be blunt now: Liberal, if this is the worst thing that happens to you, if you get called “a worthless human being” on a fucking MESSAGE board, (when the purpose was obviously to come up with the most offensive insults possible), consider yourself lucky. Get a thicker skin, get over it, and get over yourself. And stop spreading lies. (Shit, if someone called me – what was it, “spawn of demonic rape?” – I’d put it down as my title – that’s fucking hysterical!)

As crazy as Liberal is, at least he can generally read for comprehension. He wasn’t talking about the sock account, per se, being removed, he was talking about the permission to use it.
And keep in mind that the “worthless human being” comment on the Giraffe board was in a “thread tag”–a piece of anonymous graffiti allowed at the bottom of a thread. And it was deleted by a mod there (not me). It was up for about an hour. Maybe. At most.
And for that–for some anonymous person on the internet calling putting those three words in a thread where he lied about stuff he said on Domebo–he said “pretty much cut like a knife”. Waaah.
Which he used to talk to himself, something most people get over at about the age of six. Every time Liberal mentions have a “Socratic dialogue” with his socks I get the image of George Bluth in the attic having tea-table discussions with dolls.
I think calling him a liar is giving him too much credit. I suspect he actually believes his version of his stories, and that everyone else is a confederacy of dunces aligned against him.

In addition, I haven’t checked the dates, but I’m pretty sure his special sock exemption (the permission, not the sock itself) wasn’t removed until after he stomped off with his latest dramatic departure forever. (Hey Domebo mods–he left you guys forever, what? 4 or 5 times?)

The two go hand in hand, surely. At least, I’m not aware of any ruling forbidding Liberal from using his sock account in the 35 minutes between his sock’s last post and his main account’s last post. (Of course, I may be wrong?)
It was unbelievable to me that he used the sock account to argue with himself. He really did. It was the weirdest thing…it’s one thing to argue with yourself when no one knows you are playing both parts, but when they know…
But that wasn’t even the problem. He then used his sock to wander around the board which it was not for. He specifically asked for it to be able to argue with himself in debate threads and got permission for said.
Weird enough but then he almost immediately abused it.
Sorta puts a taint on all those memberships he sponsored.
