My member of parliament, Jacques Saada, will be returning my call tomorrow.
I’m pissed about a lot of things. Jacques Saada (MP) is not only the father of an elementary school friend who introduced me to Judaism, a religion to which I converted in my twenties. Jacques Saada is also my now deceased father’s nemesis. Things got real dirty when Jacques and my father, Ernie Lamoureux, were butting heads for school commissioner position. He is also the man who I voted for in the last election. I feel I have no choice but to vote Liberal, in Quebec.
Well now I’m not so happy about the way the country is being led.

~ I know I’m not supposed to be happy about some scandal that has happened and Paul Martin is shitting bricks. To be honest, I don’t understand what happened (if you care to explain, ty for doing so)

The Honourable Jacques Saada, or as I call him ~ Jacques~ will be calling me in the morning. I’ll ask him how Jessica is doing. And how is Jeremy. And what about Jordana. And his wife Nicole is well?
And then I hit him with all of my ammunitionk which I’m lacking. And he’ll say to himself, “Oy, this is Ernie’s daughter for sure.” Just to make sure I don’t miss a thing, remind me of everything I should be bitching to the liberal party about.
Here’s a simplified, step-by-step timeline explaining how the sponsorship scandal has developed. In a nutshell, the Liberals funnelled millions of dollars of taxpayers money through the Communications Co-ordination Services Branch, most of which has apparently ended up in the pockets of Liberal-party-friendly advertising and PR firms in exchange for virtually nothing, although staggering sums are simply “missing.” Further audits are ongoing to see if any of the money ended up being kicked back directly to Liberal Party members.
As far as other things to be upset with the Liberal Party about, how about the anointed Paul Martin? His stink is asphyxiating all the way over here. Apart from the measurable harm his shady business dealings while Finance Minister (switching his CSL ships to “flags of convenience” to allow him to lay off the Canadian crews, avoid taxes, get around Canadian labour and enviromental laws, etc.) After the Canadian crews (who were paid $12/hr) were sacked, they were replaced with Filipino crews that made less than $2 per hour. Beyond that, Revenue Canada was closing in on his company for their Cayman Island tax dodges, and he responded by pushing through legislation which allowed Canadian corporations to maintain funds in off-shore tax-shelters.
Martin has also said “I will certainly advocate internally on the health care issue, that there are ways that you can actually use the private sector to get the demand out of the public system without removing resources,” which translates as a two-tier health-care system for Canada, as near as I can make out. Bad, bad idea. (This coming from someone who spent five hours in the ER last week, waiting for the one doctor who was on duty to come by and do a quick staunch-and-stitch. BC Health Care is in tatters, thanks to the Liberals.)
Can you elaborate on that? (I’m woefully ignorant of Quebec politics.) I had the vague impression that the Quebec Liberals were worse than most of the provincial Liberal parties, though. I’d heard that they were more Evil than the BC Liberals, and I would vote for an Alliance of Invading Mongol and Vandal Hordes before I’d vote for them.
What makes the NDP unattractive to you, if it’s not an impertinent question?
Damn this whole country just pisses me off these days. Forget about telling him what you think do to him what The PM is doing to the Crown corp heads.
“Tell me why the hell you deserve my vote or any support?” The let him know that you will not tollerate a governement that has grown at its least complacent at its worst courrupt. If He tries to give you the Good Liberal/Bad Liberal speech (You know the new spin they are trying that some how new leader means different party) Laugh contemptuously and tell him he just lost your vote then hang up on him.
I’m planning to do this to My MP. Truth is I think its time for a major overhaul. I’m planning to swallow a bitter pill and vote against my politics just to punish these people for robbing us blind and then having the arrogence to think we’re so stupid and apathetic as to give them a new mandate.
Mr Martin has to go down hard… I’m talking Kim Campbell hard. I have no faith in the Current Liberal party on any level and only a huge crushing defeat will be enough to make them clean house.
We need a minority Government that will stay for a term long enough for all the parties to take heed and think twice before screwing the Canadian Public. If we allow Martin and his band of Crooks walk away with another election we might as well ask them to empty the governments coiffers and hand them out to their buddies in a public ceremony because if we don’t punish them for this nothing short of blatant robbery will awaken this country’s ire.
Goddamit!! Did the Reform/Alliance/Conservatives change their name again?!? I swear, this incessant moniker tampering would drive even a man so virtuous as the revered Sir John A to drink!
I’m pissed off enough that I know I won’t be voting liberal unless Moshiach comes down and tells me to.
My gut reaction has always been to vote Liberal. Just so the peppers didn’t come in. (I’m a pepper, so shut up).
But now, the liberals are way too fucking confident. They’re robbing us blind. If they get a vote, it’s telling them it’s ok. And don’t believe the robbing will end there. That’s just the robbing they’re not ashamed to admit to, before we have an election. Should they come into power, we’re telling them that it’s ok. And we don’t mind being robbed further.
Chretien was an asshole. We know that. But now what? We’ve got the former Minister of Finance on board and he can’t explain where millions of dollars went.
Help me, my Canadian friends. I’m not equipped to argue with my MP, though he will listen to me, as he has known my family for over 20 years. But I know I have to argue. What’s the shit that went down? According to Tommy Shnurmacher on CJAD, we’re getting fucked left right and center. I know we are but I have many vague arguements as to how.
I’m ignorant. Help me out here. I want to give my MP as much shit as possible.
I need as much ammo as possible. I’m disgusted enough by the exhorbitant spending to change my vote. I just want a reminder what else I should give this guy shit about.
