You’ll be waiting a long time. Even if they wanted to, taking away a long-established entitlement is next to impossible. In fact, I can’t think of a single instance of this happening. So in that respect at least, it’s not the same thing.

Government-sponsored health care is bad, right? If it’s bad, then it should be gotten rid of. VA is government-sponsored health care. Therefore it is bad and should be done away with. Same with Medicare. Let people receiving VA and Medicare benefits buy private insurance.
Either government-sponsored health care is bad and should be abolished, or else it is not bad and the Republicans can’t say that it is.

What I want to say here is summed up in this other post of mine here.
I understand it. Really, I do. But I’m not sure it’s the right thing for Republicans to do. I can see many getting complacent real fast. “Oh, we don’t need to campaign against the President’s health care bill. Brown being in the Senate will take care of that.” (I know it really doesn’t work that way, but by reactions I’m seeing out in the general public, some people seem to think it does.)
