This is my first post from my brand new Graphite ibook SE. Faster than hell, with a DVD and firewire. I am elated. (not Elaine, she’s on Sienfeld.) I had a great time at my new job last night. I work in a very funky video store, extremely laid back atmosphere. I get to work nights, which for this night owl is a dream come true. I truely enjoy the people I work with, I have fun at work, and I like my job. I have even met a fella that I’m attracted to AND who can string together a sentance: in German and English! And I think he’s smitten, too. I rearranged the furniture in my apartment, and say what you will about Feng Sui, but the Swiddle Pad just feels more homey and inviting, and less cluttered, even though there is just as much clutter. My cat is happy that I get to spend more time with her now that I’m not workin 40 hour weeks. The cold snap of last week is temporarily over (it was 25 degrees last Thursday night. That would be a hard frost, people!) the sun is shining, it is close to 70 degrees out there! I had to drive little over an hour to pick up my computer, but the leaves were turning, and the stretch of highway between Burlington and Montpelier (Vermont, for those not in the know) is, IMHO, one of the loveliest I’ve ever run across. Things have been tense around these boards, what with illnesses and such, lately. However, I am close to the happiest I’ve ever been with my life, and I just wanted to share my joie de vie. On the way home today, I stuck my hand out the window of my car at 60 mph, and rejoyced at the feeling of wind on my palm.
Hi, I’m Swiddles, and it’s good to be alive. How are you today?
Just reading your post elated me. Life is beautiful!
For me, I’m going back to school after a short yet blissful break (and still recovering from drunken debauchery on Friday night), and I’m looking forward to actually being done with classroom work in 6 weeks–my externship will start before I know it.
See? Everybody’s happy on my birffday. Including me, actually. Life ain’t bad. Or at least, the thought of living the rest of it has come to be a source of excitement and anticipation, rather than doubt and anxiety. And I got a cool new backpack on Saturday.
So rock the hell on, Swiddles. Glad things are good.
This would be post #3 from the computer I have named the iBrooke. GET IT? I kill me.
Happy birthday to Lux, happy birthday to Lux! Waddle waddle like a duck…ssss, Happy Birthday to Lux!
Hey, look on the bright side. There are other things that rhyme with Lux…
Now which turn are you speaking of, Zenster? A metephoric turn, or the fact that the Burlington/Montpelier route is one through the mountains, and therefore there are lots of fun literal turns to take at great speeds? Happiness has dulled my intelligence.
mk9kahr: the Key Lime frightens me. I wish they had the Indigo in the suped up SE, but I am pleased with my graphite. And I’m sure as I grow up a bit (HAH!) the more conservative grey will suit me better.
Off to clean the Swiddle pad before Papa Riddles comes over to put his mark of aproval on this here computer. I’m nearly 21, and haven’t lived with them in 2 years, but every major purchace still requires Dad poking the merchandise, making sure it won’t explode before nodding and saying “You done good, kiddo.”
Today’s been great around here, too. My three-month old son has been shreiking with laughter every time he sees my face today. Hard not to be cheered up by that. (Now, if he was older… )
Hey, Birthday boy, if there is one thing I’m known for, it’s restraint.
Fall in Vermont is the type of magical time where even though I have witnessed it every year for 21 years, it never ceases to take my breathe away. That tends to happy a lot where I live, but fall is especially magical. It’s like the Great Kahuna is saying “Listen. I know you guys have it rough. Your growing season is shorter than three months, you are acclimated to two feet or more of snow on the ground at all times for 9 months out of the year. And that fifth season I threw you guys, Mud Season, whew! That one’s a doozy. So here’s what I’m gonna do. Your summers? They’ll be wonderful. Not too hot, but definately hot enough for you to know it’s summer. And your spring will be a rebirth in every sense. But because I know you guys will get pretty bummed out just thinking about the 7 or more months of winter ahead, I’m gonna go out with style.” Quid pro quo.
Here’s a visual image: have you ever sat in front of a camp fire, and found yourself mesmerized by the flames? By thier beauty? Imagine an entire mountain range engulfed in those beautiful flames, but not burning. That is fall in Vermont.
Of course, we also get the GDLP (God damned leaf peepers) who think nothing of slowing suddenly from 55 to 20 in a 50 mph speed limit, nearly causing a pile-up to look at a tree. But you have to forgive them. They’re new at this.
Hey, Swiddles, it’s even more mesmerizing when the mountains are REALLY burning. C’mon out with me on my next trip to southern California during dry season, I’ll show ya.
