Waiting for the big nasty nor]‘easter to start. That’s all the weather dweebs have been talking about this week. So far though, nuttin’.
I once dated a woman who made really good gnocchi. In fact, it was so good, the Italian restaurant she worked in stopped using the recipe they had for decades and started using hers. And that restaurant really knows their Italian food. But of course, it’s back home and not down here, so I can’t get good gnocchi execpt once or twice a year when I head north for a few days.
I think it’s interesting that every culture, well, European anyway, has a specialized dumpling. Of course they’re all tres yummy.
I have to make an amendment to my day. It is now all about mopheads, accessibility issues, Fed Ex and teaching somebody else about billing (YAY!). On the upside, I get ice cream this afternoon.

I can’t believe I actually made it to work every day this week. It’s a miracle!
I slept like the proverbial rock last night. The night before I couldn’t sleep until well after 1:00 am, and woke up several times in the night. Last night I didn’t even watch Survivor or Grey’s Anatomy - thank Og for DVR. Asleep in my chair immediately after dinner, and off to bed at 8:30.
I feel good today! We don’t get Monday off, though. Boo. I laughed at the nun joke, too. I think I was going to hell way before that snicker, though.
I’m already thinking about cooking dinner. We’re having sketti and meatballs, and warm crusty bread. Mmm.
A potential new family member for the VunderLair. We are currently hosting an 11 month old male white Boxer, who is looking for a new home because of landlord and family issues.
If he gets along well enough with Maddy and the cats this weekend, that is…
We’re shopping for a name. Presently, he’s King, but that’s blase. My original suggestion was Floyd, and I’d’ve put a pink collar on him. That didn’t fly.
VWife wants to call him Jake, after the mythical son some mass mailer decided we ha(ve)(d). I want something stereotypically southern (if this was a girl, she’d be Dixie), but Bubba and the like are already off the list.
Second choice for me is something Scandinavian or mythological. Gunnar sounds good to me…

Morning. Today is my birthday. I am now older. Mr. Lissar left my presents out, and I am flabbergasted. I got a beautiful Japanese teapot and cups set, 24 more dance classes, a paid-for Arabesque t-shirt, and a little Chinese journal.
Wow.
On the bad side Mr. Lissar went to RCIA last night, and the priest who was running it is a moron and a jerk, and not very interesting, and told him that I certainly can’t be received into the church if I can’t attend all the classes, and Mr. Lissar shouldn’t either. So we had family drama last night, neither of us slept long or well, and I’m going to phone our priest today and book an appointment to talk about the situation with him.
In an hour I leave for my first-ever physio appointment. After it I think I’m going out for lunch with my parents.
Yeesh, I’m tired.
Last year Attacks Husband made me a real Vimes badge for my birthday, out of real copper. This year Mr. Lissar probably wins Coolest Present.
Oh, Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! We’re doing turkey with my parents tomorrow.

So…dance practice again last night. Fun! And someone was giving away free stuff. Twinks, was it you who likes masks, or Draelin, or Drae, was it your roomate? Because I scored a stunningly beautiful peacock feather mask for free! I love it. I’ll post a picture on Monday, too.
Mandi was the one who bought the mask (which came last week, and is stunning by the way), but I would have gotten one, had I any money left at the time.
Right! I’ll take a picture and post it next week, I think she’ll like it. I loved it. And generally masks are a bit creepy to me, all those eyeless slits (although they are beautiful, it’s just the lack of eyes that gets to me) but I couldn’t resist this one. It’s peacock feathers, which is the sign of Krishna, which was always my favorite dancing role. After I get the picture taken - and I want one of me in it - then I’ll hang it on my wall.

Somehow, I managed to sleep with the oxymeter taped onto my finger. Now I need to get it back to Kaiser before 9 and drop off some paperwork after 9. Then, off to Fry’s to buy Sims 2 and see if this computer will run it. If not, I guess it will be going back to Costco and I’ll be getting a Dell. I can’t believe that a computer just out of the box can’t run a game that came out 2 years ago, but if it doesn’t, I guess that’s what I get for buying a computer at Costco.
