I wish I’d made it to Faire more than once this year, but that once was worth it. Nice OP, Gotti.
Saturday, my parents took Roomie and myself to lunch, and to see a Broadway show, and then to dinner. I think I probably could have made out like a bandit, had it occurred to me to ask Mom if she wanted to go to Target, but we were tired enough by the time we were done with dinner. Shopping probably wouldn’t have made it any better.
Yesterday, I sat on the couch, watched movies, and ate pretty much constantly. I call that a good day.
Great OP! I love RenFaires - I’ve been to the one outside of Atlanta a few times and want to go back. I got my drabit (part dragon, part rabbit) there. Next time I’m going to go in costume. I always see a few people from the drama department at good ole LaGrange College doing something there.
This evening is the BC executive board meeting. At least I’m fairly sure there will be no whining or bitching at this one. I’ve sent the date of the next general meeting to the person responsible for the website four times, but she hasn’t updated it yet. Less than a month till hockey season starts, and there’s an exhibition game on the 19th!! Whoo Hoo! Swampy, are you going to make it for a game?
I am havin’ the first cup of coffee, then going to feed monster basset and monster beagle.
Great OP, gotpasswords. I really was in the moment there, living in the early morning, listening to the eggs being broken. Very nice.
We did hit the Farmer’s Museum and Brooks’ BBQ this weekend., I’ll post a handful of pictures tomorrow. It was chilly out there! But a very nice drive. We had a good time…beautiful fall colors (sigh…winter’s coming) and then the Museum itself was VERY nice, filled with lots of nice people.
Brooks BBQ was also very good. I’m now in love with their ribs. I’ve never had such yummy, crispy, ribs. Their sauce is really delicious; I was dipping my fries into it. And I raised a fry in honor of taxicab.
We also watched Howl’s Moving Castle. A bit weird, but entertaining all the same.
I now do not have to die, since I know what death warmed over feels like. And yet I am sick of laying in bed and sleeping. No rest for the weary, I suppose.
Oh, and I have to go talk to a lawyer today (work related and say no more). That’s adding to my heartfelt enthusiasm for life at present…
RenFaires sound cool. I never go. Wanna know why? I’ll tell ya. It’s too damned hot. It’s not hot here now (yay!), but are there Faires now around here? No.
Otherwise, I’d go…
Off to hallucinate a bit more-kinda feel disembodied, really. Sorry if I’ve pulled the MMP down; didn’t mean to.
Good morning, gotpasswords and all! I almost made it to your Faire this weekend, but man, it’s deer season. I took Friday off on short notice and went hunting instead, because I had an emergency surprise party to go to. See, my best friend is shipping off to Iraq and a mutual friend threw a party. So I had to get my ex to keep the kids Saturday night, but he was going out of town so if he kept them Saturday, he had to keep them the whole weekend. Cool for them, because they got to go to their other grandparents’ and cool for me because I had a surprise free day to go hunting. Was supposed to go yesterday too, but combining a late party with a 3 AM wakeup call wasn’t going to happen.
So, anyway. Ren Faire on the 15th (last day! Can’t put it off any longer!) with the kids. And my dress now fits and I have more cleavage than I thought possible, woohoo!
Nava, I hope you feel better! Sorry about your mom. They’re supposed to drive you crazy–it’s part of their job description.
rigby, darn it, now I want to know why you’re talking to a lawyer! I know, it’s better not to put things like that on the intarweb for everyone to see, but I’m nosy. I’ll just make stuff up. I hope tomorrow’s better!
swampy, you’re brilliant! I always take a mug of tea to work with me. If I fill it up with Kahlua and a little bit of coffee, no one will ever suspect. Except for the part where I’m stumbling around the office and drooling on my desk.
Thanks, gt. Is it really unrealistic to want a job where I don’t have to work with crazy people? I’m tired of working with crazy people. I might tell some stories later, but they’re still a little too fresh to be funny to me. I’ll wait until I can feel the funny.
**gotti ** - that OP was a marvelous view of bts at a faire. We all write so well, don’t we? I used to love going to the NYS Faire but the walking would just do me in these days. Once I have new knees I will go again.
**swampy ** - I thought you were all happy and content now that you no longer had to deal with billing
**nava ** - mommies never stop pulling - but sometimes they only do it quietly to themselves so there kids never know. It’s tough to tell her to knock it off without damaging the relationship - hang in there, be firm but loving and she’ll eventually understand
so, if we now go “all medieval” on people’s asses, what did they call it back then?
“Hie thee, William of Brisbane, cease thy actions or I shall be required to “go all paleolithic” upon thee”
One of my friend’s favorite lines came from when we were at the RenFest. It was me, her, and her husband walking around. We passed someone working there, and he said:
Like Ol’ Georgie Washington apocryphally said, “I cannot tell a lie.” In fact, I was in this MMP roundabout 2 am, but I was too tired to post. I promise I’m still alive, guys. This weekend has been equal parts complete laziness and inspiring productivity. Saturday I did no work and went to a party in one of the other apartments in this complex. Sunday I did no work until about 4 pm, after which I polished off my Math Methods hw (due in about 15 minutes), and almost half of my Classical Mechanics homework - this puts me way, way ahead of where I was this time last week.
So here I am now, wrestling with a bear of an inexplicably flickering internet connection, all to bring you this fine pun. FROM THE FUTURE. spooky music
Anyway - gotti, wonderful MMP. It sounds like the RenFaires, exhausting as they are, are great fun.
rigs, sorry you’re feeling crappy. But it’s good that you’re getting better. {{rigs}}
Hmmm … I’ve never been in one of these here MMP-thingies, but since we went to a Ren Faire yesterday, I felt compelled to take a look.
Hubby and I had a good time (I can’t speak for Spencer - what does a five-month-old know of bosoms and turkey legs?), up until I got overheated and had to chill out on the grass, in the shade. I hate getting overheated, and I do it all the time in the summer. It was only supposed to be like 73 degrees yesterday, but got much much warmer than that! Anyhow, we are certainly planning on going back next year, and spending more time watching the performances than shopping. I mean, it’s fun to look at the clothes, jewelry, “weapons”, and suchlike, but when you know you’re not going to buy anything, it gets old early. So next year we’ll get there earlier, pack more water (since you have to buy it once you’re there), and bring along some first-aid-type instant ice packs for me. Maybe, just maybe (if I can get my sewing machine fixed), we’ll have costumes for next year. (Anybody know of some good websites or patterns?)
Driving by to say happy Monday to everyone. I’m beyond up to the eyeballs today and tomorrow so probably won’t be posting anything of substance (if you can call it that) till I’m sick of working, but right now it’s too early in the day for that considering how much I have to get done. So everyone behave, feel better, celebrate, don’t let your mother drive you crazy, etc. as the situation calls for it, and I’ll be around eventually. With chocolate. I think we all need chocolate this week.
