Life On The Other Side Of The Burlap - A Renaissance MMP

Er, well, considering I got “yelled” at via email for calling them all “girls”, I can’t imagine what they’d do to me if I called them, well, you know…

Doubt that I am - I don’t know too many Californians
Nor do I rivet
Nor am I made of metal, nor live in the future or beep between sentences
Nor do I have a daughter by Mr O’Grady
(I think that covers it)

Page 4 on Tuesday, gee you people need to get a life. It’s been another one of those days, nothing like cutting payroll because sales are up. At least there is hockey tomorrow. I’m going tailgating!
The N.C. Lottery(motto: Slots for Tots), has a Hurricanes themed lottery game. You can win $100K or a Canes prize pack(jersey, sweatshirt, etc). I thought that would be neat to win, then realized if I won the $100K, I could buy many jerseys and much beer.

Drae, yeah sick time and drugs!

Tigs, I just open the windows, that keeps things cool.

MBG, I don’t post in the Pit, I just watch the poo flinging.

Well, I decided not to turn on the AC because the temp only got uncomfortable for about an hour. And I really couldn’t justify wasting electricity for an hour’s worth of slight discomfort. So I just opened the windows a bit wider and turned on a small fan I have on my desk. By supper time, it was comfortable again.

FCM, meeting on a Saturday for lunch at 301/50 sounds perfect to me. I don’t think I have anything planned any weekend in October thus far, so once we get everyone involved who wants to join us, picking a date will be easy, at least for me.

You have a Starfleet Academy jersey, SCL? That sounds marvelous – wherever did you find such a thing?

That’s exactly why I decided to assault a neurologist (which coincidentally is the only specialist that I hadn’t visited, I even got checked for cancer and I know my spine is “the most gorgeous Xray” my traumatologist has ever seen, she’s got it hanging on her wall). Plus, one of the things that happen to me is that sometimes I’ll be completely beat, like I’m coming down with a horrible case of the flu - but it only lasts one day, so some of my stupider bosses claimed I was just “trying to get off work”. Having a Doctor’s Note feels like being back at the nuns, but when your IdiotBoss is IdiotNunLevel, it works (I had some great nun teachers, but the dumbest teachers I had were all nuns, well intentioned butttttt…)

Whatever it is, I’ve had it for 23 years so it’s probably not going to change much anytime soon, but if it’s MS, I get the Doctor’s Note and access to better information than “something that happens to you”, which is one of those TAER things.

Right now, I’m having to leave the house before dawn. When I open the door of the car it’s still black night. I’ll be sitting there, starting it and thinking “why am I out of the house? The sun isn’t even out of bed!”

On the up side, I get to see the dawn as I drive. For the first leg of the trip, I head west, with the outskirts of the Pyrinees (is that the right spelling?) on my right and the smaller Sierra del Perdón (Forgiveness Mountains) on the left. The sky today was cloudy, it looked like big grey cotton balls, so dawn was just light happening: there was no sun or sky in sight. The Sierra ends as I reach Huarte and there I could see that the southern sky was open: violet, pink, peach, yellow, blue… just a few wispy clouds… There I head north, taking the “beltroad” around Pamplona and heading into Erriagaray Valley for a little bit: there was the usual mist at the river, with the northern wind pulling “woolies” off it. One of the hills, which is sort of isolated from the two sides of this N-S valley, wore a garland of mist today: I could see its foot and top, but the middle was just Not There. Made me think of the way kids play hide and seek, when they just grab a napkin and put it over their face thinking that if they can’t see you, you can’t see them. The “beltroad” is a string of roundabouts: when I go to work, I have Pamplona on the left and green mountains (with some housing) on the right. Traffic was fluid, which is always nice. By the time I got to the office I could even see the sun, looking all flushed in the southern sky…

What a nice dawn description, Nava. Sounds like a very pretty area.

I’m up. I’m getting ready for work. I’ve got lots to do today (I got quite a bit done last night, but there’s always more…).

Everyone have a good day…

In the deathpool I am a virgin. I have amassed a list of immortals, I tells ya! Freakin’ immortals! If’n nobody dies before year’s end I’m keepin’ the list for next year and forever til somebody does. I’m lookin’ at you Courtney Love!

A prickly weed? <snerk>

Rigs your Maria riff is pretty good! I’m not a big fan of The Sound of Music though. I keep pullin’ for the Nazis to drag 'em all off and shoot the entire VonTrapp family.

Nah. My favorite part is when the Baron sings Edelweiss at the festival, and the proper translation is “Me no like’m horse, either”. The only way he could have improved the performance would have been to moon the Nazis…

The nuns were annoying. The Nazis could have machine gunned the convent for all I care.

Nava - have they ruled out Lupus? It truly sucks to live with pain and discomfort and not know why also, what does TAER stand for?

The sound system last night sucked moosemeat the 8 gals had 3 mics only one of which seemed to be working - the one near the bass with scratchy cigarette voice. I felt so bad for them. I don’t know how the pics came out, it as well into late twilight when the ceremony started. Now I have to write a paragraph or two about our participation to send out to the papers. Oy.

TAER: There Ain’t Enough Rolleyes

I have several relatives with Lupus and they all claim it hurts. I don’t hurt… I just get tired, woozy, my brain forgets how to interpret visual information…

Yes, Lupus hurts. Nave, I’ll second that MS or something closely related is the right way to go in looking for a diagnosis.

Good luck and huggios…

Bobbio what say we collaborate on a rewrite of TSOM? We’ll make bazillions!

Me, writing a musical with a gay guy? What would the neighbors think?

Maybe we could gain Doper fame by starting a thread, “What if Tolkein had written The Sound of Music?”

Even Liesle?

It’s the only schmaltz I like (ok, ok-I like the Music Man, too). You leave my saccharine uberDeutsches alone!
tis raining here-think I’m turning into a slithy tove. We’ve never had so much rain here in Sept.
And I hack like a 4 pack a dayer now. Charming-and so attractive!

Its Hockey night in Carolina! Woo! Woo! It’s a beautiful morning, with temperatures getting up to 88 today. I’m gonna take the beagle to the dogpark, and pay rent, then get ready for tailgating.

Nava, that was a great description, ever thought of writing?

Vbob: The hills are alive, with the sound of Nazgul!

swampy, if no one on your deathpool list ever dies, put me on it, OK?

Just after Mr. Lissar left for work there was an enormous crack of thunder, and it poured, plus impressive lightning, for about half an hour. Again. I don’t get it. This isn’t the rainy season.

It’s nice and cool today, at least.

How’s the butt, Drae? You should have Ex kiss it better. He likes to do that.
Smoker’s cough is hawt, rigs. Erm, sort of. Are you feeling better except for the cough?

The descriptions was beautiful, Nava.
Today I think I’ll try to clean my desk. Looking over at it from the computer desk, the nearest pile is nail polish, nail polish remover, jump rings, a glue gun, pay stubs, and a pin cushion. That’s on e fairly tidy corner.

We’re also meeting with our priest today to explain that I can’t take RCIA because I work on the scheduled day, and to explore alternatives. (“Let us convert or we’re gonna run off and join a cargo cult!”)

Where do we want to go for my birthday dinner? I romantically plan on celebrating it with Mr. Lissar, Driving Husband, Attacks Husband, and probably Lazy Husband. Quasi-Daughter is in Europe, Other Quasi-Daughter lives in New Brunswick, and Best Friend is in Philly, so it’ll be me and the guys. Barbeque, Mexican, Greek, or something else?

See I like Music Man. He’s a con artist. Plus Ya Got Trouble is just uber jake!

LiLi I say have it all! Barbequed sishkabob with taco sauce and guacamole.

caninusservantus I’m thinkin’ of turnining my celebrity pool death list into a money making scheme. See, the plan would be to solicit inclusion on my list to the highest bidders. Since it apparently ensures instant immortality, I’ll make gazbillions!

Laughing that hard is not good for broken things. You have been warned.

Rigs: Especially Liesle. She bugged me. Although I can’t say I’ve seen The Sound of Music all the way through more than once. I love musicals. I have a decent tolerance for schmaltz. I even like Julie Andrews. But give me Guys and Dolls over TSOM any day.

SCL, my bank once put a hold on my card because I tried to make a withdrawal in Maine. What pissed me off so much about that was the fact that they’d never had any problem with me getting money in Maine before that. I called the bank three times before I went to Amsterdam, to make sure they didn’t cut me off in the middle of my vacation.

And now it’s time to go back to sleep on the couch. Except for the pain part, this being broken thing ain’t so bad.
