light sabres

This was mentioned a while back about the light sabres in “StarWars,” but did you also notice that except in one scene, the “light” sabres cast no light? When Luke is first trying it out, you can see the effect of the flickering light in the room. But in all the other scenes, there is no light cast by the weapons, you don’t see them reflected in the eyes, or in Darth’s rather shiny helmet. I know that the reason is that when filming began, they were trying reflective material on the props, hoping to make them glow without additional fx, but it wasn’t sufficient, so they had to add the glow in later. That was a problem I was hoping Lucas was going to address in the special updated version he released a few years ago. By the way, remember when Luke is convincing Han to help him rescue the Princess and he points out that she’s rich? How come Han didn’t say “Oh yeah? Where? On Alderaan?” They HAD just flown through the rubble of that planet after all…

Oh well… pick, pick, pick…

You know, that’s a good point, but I’m not sure Luke ever told Han that she was an Alderaanian princess, or just a princess…

At least the book covered that. Luke had to point out that Leia is heir to all off-world holdings of the Alderaan Royal House and government. There would be plenty of money to cover his desires.
