I just flagged a post as it was in the wrong category… when i clicked the 3 dots button
to enable the flag button, i saw the message “Liked this” appear at the bottom
of the post.
What’s that all about ? (I didn’t particularly like it !)
The words “liked this” appear at the bottom right hand corner of the post and they do not go away. I tried bookmarking something and the same thing happened. Even when I deleted the bookmark the words “liked this” remained.
I am assuming it’s something only I will see but why is this necessary? And what if I didn’t like it but wanted to flag it?
My flag button is already enabled, and I have no “3 dots”. If I click the flag button, I get a window with three options and that’s it.
I can confirm the report, because I used the same mechanism and liked all three posts in this thread. If anyone else posts, I’ll like those posts too! I’m feeling generous.
Edit to add: And I just liked my own as well!
Oh, huh. Yeah, I’m getting the “liked this” as well. I’m assuming that’s some sort of bug. I don’t remember seeing it before.
Moved from ATMB to Site Feedback, since this is about Discourse’s software.
For what it’s worth, I clicked on the flag button but then clicked on the X to cancel without actually creating the flag, and I still got the “liked this” text at the bottom right of the post.
The post does not show up in the “liked posts” section of my profile, so it’s not actually generating a like within the system, it’s just displaying the text for some reason.
Definitely a weird bug of some sort.
When I click the “…” it shows up, but when I refresh the page it goes away.
This looks more like an expanded details thing. I imagine that if “likes” were enabled that would say “user1, user10, spammer3, and 20 others liked this” or something similar.
That’s how it works on Discourses that retain the “Like” button. IME, you can click in the vicinity of the like button on mobile, or hover the like button with a mouse, and it’ll display that list of members that had already liked the post.
It’s just weird that little atavism is popping up now in a system with no use for it.
Good grief. I just tried that on your post and sure enough, there it is, down at the bottom right corner. Maybe Discourse is mad at us for disabling the ‘like’ function and has substituted a forced one instead?
Huh. So it does.
I also had this error when (accidently) clicking the “bookmark” icon, Windows 11, Chrome, Dark theme.
Just for error tracking purposes.
When I click on the three dots again or the bookmark it comes back again.
For me also.
When I hit the three dot menu button at the bottom of a post (e.g, in order to report it), instead the words “liked this” appear in the post. I have apparently liked Horatius’s post above. Does anyone else see the “liked this” text?
ETA: I also “liked this” for pj’s and scabpicker’s posts.
Your not actually liking a post, it just seems to be some stray verbiage a developer left with a modification. Hopefully the Discourse team sees this and fixes it, but pretty minor.
I feel bad reporting a post that I have marked “liked this”!
The three dots just displays things that are usually hidden, which includes the bookmark option, reporting option, and the profile pics of posters who liked the post.
No pics are appearing because liking is disabled for users, but Discobot can like a post if you type " thanks, @discobot ".
Here are some posts where people tried it; if you click on the three dots, it shows that Discobot liked the post:
Thanks @discobot Well I"ll be damned
Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help
.

No pics are appearing because liking is disabled for users,
Unless it’s @kaylasdad99 who’s liking them all.
