Link?

:smack: OK, I admit I am a bit on the slow side.
How do you do that linkthing?
Where a word in my post becomes a link to something.

{url=http://genericwebaddress.com}Word you want linked{/url}

Replace curly brackets with square brackets.

Like so.

[url]

[link]

[/link]

No. You must properly nest the code, or it will not work.

Replacing the curly braces from this …

{URL=http://www.google.com}{COLOR=RoyalBlue}google.com{/COLOR}{/URL}

with square brackets will produce this …

google.com

[google.com
:smack:
I may be too stupid to learn this.

Oh wait…I may have sort of done it!
Thanks you two!
I appreciate it.

[google.com
I seem to have an extra bracket.

You do know you can edit a post, right? :wink:

ETA: For five minutes after the original post is made.

Yup. You’ve got two opening brackets just before your color code. Get rid of it and you’re all set.

By the way, if you’re ever curious how somebody coded something, the easiest way to figure it out is to hit “Reply” and see what shows up in the response box. Everything will be in code form.

That’s doing it the hard way. If you go to the “Advanced” window for posting replies, you’ll see above the type field a little globe with two links of chain underneath it. If you highlight the term you want to make a link, then hit that globe button, it takes you to the link window. The first window is what you highlighted - press ok. Then when the http:// window opens, eithr type or Ctl-V the url you want to use. Than hit ok. All done. It sounds a lot longer than it takes. The advantage is that you can open a second window, find what you want, copy the url, then return to your answer and link in just a few seconds, without having to remember or type out a long url.

I deleted a bracket. This is a test.

Those last two sentences you wrote are good to know!
It’s little clues like that that help me understand.
Thanks facherwirrt!

Yes, I knew I could edit, but when I did and then previewed, I had screwed something up even worse.
And I wanted to show others what I was doing. Apparently I edited it into something wrong.

I am going to have to study this a bit before it will sink in to the mud-pit that is pretending to be my brain!

But I appreciate it silenus!

I’m practicing too. I’m ona handheld, can’t use the fancy pants reply window.

Here’s a handy page on how to link, do colours, bolding, etc.

Holy Moley Lionne there is everything I wanted to know and more!

Go crazy!
