Te first album I bought, I co-bought with my sister. It was a compilation.
Album Title : Night Flight
Song wanted: Believe it or not
Wow. I can only make an educated guess. My music and my dad’s music were muddled together for so long when I was a kid. . .a lot of the stuff I listened to (Zep, Van Halen, early GnR, The Who, etc.) was all his. The 90’s came along and sort of changed that, I guess. The first album I really remember buying on my own was probably a cassette of Soundgarden’s Badmotorfinger. I really don’t know how anyone can remember this kind of stuff.
The first 45 I ever bought with my own money was “Big Bad John” by Jimmy Dean in 1961. I was 10 (yeah, I’m that old!)
The first album I ever bought with my own money was “The Ventures in Space”. That was in 1964. I think it was the cool hot rod on the cover that sealed the deal!
First album I bought with my own money was K-TEL’s “Hit Explosion” from 1983.
I saw it of course on TV but then found it for sale at K-Mart and had to have it.
I was 13.

Queen - A Night At The Opera, 1975. I’m not much of a Queen fan anymore, but certainly the album still holds up fairly well. Bohemian Rhapsody, Death on Two Legs, I’m In Love With My Car, etc.
Album:“Here at Last…BeeGees Live”
Song: “Love So Right”
LP
I bought it with the first $10 I earned babysitting. It was $9.99 at Twin Fair. I recently got in CD format and downloaded it to my iPod.
Ah, the memories.
Wierd Al Yankovich’s Running With Scissors.
Lots of great songs on that, including a Star Wars themed parody of Don McLean’s American Pie.
First music I bought my own self (with rolled pennies!) was The Beatles–Sergeant Pepper. It’s holding up pretty well. I am peeved, though, that my first husband took my older Deutsche Grammophon and Capitol LPs and left me his inferior Apple pressings. Grrr…
