This thread is for minor details you notice in films, TV shows, books, etc. The might be in-jokes, Easter-eggs, little historical details they got correct, things they actually got right about your profession, etc.
For example:
The joke being that so many works set in New York are actually filmed in Toronto, but in this case the episode actually was set in Toronto, and La’an points this out when Kirk says it looks like New York. I admit, I missed the joke when I watched that episode, and only got it when I read that thread.
But I did notice something similar in Episode 1 of Barry. Fuches sent Barry to Los Angeles, but made him fly to Ontario Airport (in Ontario, California, not the Canadian province). I’m not sure if that was an intentional meta joke, but Ontario Airport is a very common filming location whenever Hollywood needs to film a scene at an airport. So I couldn’t help but think that that was the first time Ontario Airport was actually used to portray Ontario Airport.
The Kids in the Hall did a sketch in which Buddy Holly is loudly bragging to everyone about how he was going to travel on a plane (a little dark humor there). And the plane we see parked in the background is a Beechcraft Bonanza with its distinctive V-tail. That was actually the type of plane Holly chartered for that fateful flight. I’m impressed KITH got that detail correct.
