Just as an aside, I am someone who had a user ID on this board c. 4 or 5 years ago. I am assuming that creating a new user name after so much time (and there is no way can I remember my old one, especially since I rarely posted here) would be OK…right?
My IP and email have obviously changed as well (and my IP will natuarally change anyway, as I am using WIFI)

Even if it were, you’re citing the very post you didn’t read as proof that Santos posts long diatribes? You need more than that, pal.
Nope, if you can’t recall your old tag, and there’s a new email and IP, nobody can find your old name for you.
Note Lots of names were lost in the Winter of Lost Content when the board went down, so if you sort of remember the name and can’t find it that’s what might have happened.
The only thing that you might be missing out on is the “glory” of your old post count and start date. If you ever do recall what you came to post though, you might try to look it up that way. Lots of people start with a burning question for Cecil, and you question will still be searchable on unique words.
If so, and you want to reconnect with the old name, email an Administrator to swap your account back, to conflate your new name with the old date and posts.
They honor all reasonable requests.

We would have preferred you use your old name – we greatly discourage people when they wish to abandon old names and assume new ones – but it’s done and you’re a member under this name and so.
However, this is not usually how we do things and we do frown on people taking this approach. Just saying.
