For some reason I find your husband’s response incredibly charming
Halfway through a beer, flipping meat on a hot, smoky grill. The beer buzz, the compelling aroma from the grill, the shade at the end of a productive day, the greenery all around, the sense of accomplishment at preparing really good food, and the anticipation of eating it in the near future.
When my dog walks beside me on a slack leash. She’s a hound so you can imagine the pulling normally. When the pee 'n vinegar is all out and we’re just walking together all is right in the world.
- When my 1 year old grandson reaches both arms out to me
- Taking the T-tops off my old sports car, rolling down the windows, putting on my shades and driving down the road
I went out today and used my iPhone to look in the nest, and there were two eggs!
That made my day! Hummingbird babys soon!!!
Wow, I am blown away! What wonderful answers!
xizor: Can’t top that one.
Snooooopy: The courtesy wave! I never learned to drive, so I ride a bike mostly. I always do the wave because I’m grateful when people let me go. (many people don’t)
**
Rachellelogram:** Do you live in the Bay Area? Because it’s been exactly the same way here. Sort of a drag, for May.
Spice Weasel: Because that is a painting of awesome. Ha ha, when I was in the hospital having my son, my mom called to say she was on her way, and asked me what kind of stuffed animal to bring the baby. I said, “An octopus.” Poor lady, she finally had to bring an octopus squeaky toy cos that’s all she could find.
Machine Elf: That is indeed a potent good feeling. Except I kinda suck at barbecuing myself.
Nava: It’s nice to be fully three-dimensional to people you care about. I believe a similar process is happening with my own brothers.
beowulff: I love hummingbirds too. Have you ever noticed that little song they sing, usually midmorning and late afternoon?
MissTake: It feels really good knowing you can fix stuff yourself. I remember the first time I took the back off a toilet tank that wouldn’t stop running, and saw the parts involved, and realized how to fix it. Must have been in my early 20s. Seems like such a simple thing, but I didn’t know. Ha ha, once you do the first thing, it makes the next things easier, right?
And yes, I agree, creatures and little ones are an endless source of joy.
Taking pictures. Finding these random snapshots in life, a dandelion here, an abandoned building there, are the coolest things in the world to me. Just little nuggets of happiness waiting for me to document their existence.
I actually don’t care where it comes from, (better if it’s someone or something I love,) but the first really good laugh of the day is a great feeling!
Oh, I know it! It always makes me give out a healthy shout. Not because I’m startled or anything…just to let him know I’m healthy.
That would be awesome! First time I used the grill, I had the beer buzz…I just never knew that pork chops could catch FIRE!!! Yep, 8 inch flames, billowing black smoke, the works. :smack: (Thankfully, we got rid of the propane grill. I can handle charcoal, but always with a little fear…)
While walking my dogs along the trail to my house, I occasionally see rabbits. A rabbit sighting makes me giddy, for some reason.
My girl friend came from Japan as a child, and hasn’t been back in these 50 years. This spring, she game me a lock of her hair to travel with, and I left it next to a path in a forest in Japan. She was so pleased that a part of her has gone back home. Then yesterday, reflecting on Mother’s Day, she cried and held my hand and told me how much it meant to her that in her hair, a piece of her Japanese mother had gone back home, too.
I like seeing rabbits in my yard. It feels like a compliment: “your yard is a safe and delicious place, and I am happy to be here.”
When I hear wild parakeets downtown.
When I finish half of a toasted bagel with cream cheese and see the 2nd half still to go.
When an abandoned property has been overgrown for so long that it starts to look awesome again.
Crossing the bridge to Gasparilla Island. It means seeing Osprey in their nests and the color of the water at the Boca Grande Causeway.
When my doggie boyfriend comes over, runs into the house and jumps on me to give me hugs and I get to kiss his wiry little face.
I want a doggie boyfriend!
You can’t get much littler or simpler than zero.
It’s the new balance on my home equity loan, as of tonight. I just got online to check it, and then ambled over here.
Money isn’t that important. But there’s something so… oppressive… about the money you owe somebody else. So, yeah, for tonight, that’s awesome!
On the topic of young sons…
My 16 year old son who was feeling like nobody cared for him (Mom and Dad don’t count), and he was ugly and horrible, and a pile of yuk…
Went for a walk this afternoon with a lovely young lady who came to our place afterwards and stayed for dinner.
He’s very happy (for the moment!)
I read that wrong…
