In this thread–
I mentioned that I’d like to see the firrst Star Trek film re-done in animation.
I was inspired by this image–

So I got to thinking, what other live action films could be Animated?
Please specify Western 2D animation, Anime, or computer3D.
I’m thinking an Anime version of Chicago.
How about a Western 2D Duck Soup?
Or King Kong, in Compter 3D?
Your views/faves?
I’ve always said this, and I still stand by my belief:
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory would be best done by Tim Burton in a “Nightmare Before Christmas” style. NOT in live-action, as is now being done by Burton starring Johnny Depp.
As much as I loved Depp in “Pirates,” Willy Wonka’s factory NEEDS to be much bigger and wackier than live action will allow.
Blade runner in Anime style (same lot who did Ghost in the Shell)
The Sound of Music in manga anime, or whatever they call that extreme tentacled porn style of anime.
Using the original soundtrack and dialogue.
Think about it!
I’ve posted similar things before (what would I like to see animated instead of live-action) in other threads…
Hellboy NEEDs to have an animated sequence, I hope we have animated credits, a la The Pink Panther movies. Or at the very least, lets have a properly done Hellboy animated series after the movie!
The Matrix sequels should have been animated. They might have been less convoluted, AND- most crucially- the CGI wouldn’t have sucked as badly, cos the whole movie would have been of a consistent quality! But it would need to be in the super-detailed style of The 2nd Rennaissance from The Animatrix.
The Spider-man series on MTV (the new one produced by Mainframe entertainment in cel-rendered 3D) would sit well with a movie, although the series is in the same continuity as the first movie. So let’s hope there’s SOME level of reference back into that continuity in the 2nd movie! It’d be nice to know the cartoon was a sequel to the first movie and not some pocket universe thing!
Oh, and two comic books that NEED cartoons- Alien Legion and Legion of Superheroes (LSH would need to culminate in the 5 years later storyline in its final season and who wouldn’t KILL to see Jugger Grimrod on screen, big or small?!?)
JLA is good enough that I’m reasonably certain they could do a GREAT LSH cartoon, but would they? No… none of the characters is prominent enough, but the Teen Titans cartoon only has Robin as a prominent character that non-comic fans know and understand. All the other Titans are virtually unknown (unless you’re a Wolfman/Perez fan).
But, a wuestion for all you USAmericans; how successful is the Teen Titans cartoon? We’ve yet to see the series here in the mysterious orient so I have no idea how good or bad it might be…
Los Gene-os!
The original Star Wars trilogy might be interesting.
Robin Hood.
I wish Disney hadn’t made that awful Robin Hood in the 70s, because since their Tarzan came out I’ve jonesed to see a Robin Hood made in that same dynamic style.
There’s a Manga version of the original Trilogy available. Very cool, all B&W.
for hentai:
Note: some of the reviews I’m sending you to are work safe, in those cases the link goes directly to the review. Others are not work safe, they contain R-rated caps from the film. In those cases, I’m sending you to an all-text index that contains a link to the review in question. So all these links are work-safe, but if yuou wind up on an index, the next click won’t be work-safe.

For those who don’t know, hentai are ADULT anime, but unlike American adult fare, they often feature well-developed plots and interesting character along with all the sex.
a Disney-style happy-ending musioal version of LOLITA with voices of John Lithgow as Humbert Humbert, Steve Martin as Clare Quilty, Mary Steenburgen as Mrs Haze and Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera as Lo.
