I realize this would be a near impossiblity, and somewhat sacreligious, but hypothetically, if there were a live-action Simpson’s movie, who should the cast be?
I have yet to get my creative juices flowing on this as of yet, but I just thought I’d put it out there to the Teeming Millions.
I know, I know. I agree completely, but if the moronic powers that be in Hollywood deemed it necessary to defile the sanctity of our beloved Simpson’s, who, if anyone, would do the least amount of damage?
I’ve always thought that for one of the opening credits couch gags they should film a group of live actors (maybe the voice actors) doing the parts. Other than that however, I feel the Simpsons should remain animated.
Homer Simpson - Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Marge Simpson - Madonna.
Lisa Simpson - The young Christina Ricci.
Bart Simpson - The actor that played Urkel.
Maggie Simpson - Don Rickles.
Montgomery Burns - Harrison Ford.
Smithers - Rupert Everett.
Ned Flanders - Leonardo DiCaprio.
Apu - Matt Damon.
Principal Skinner - Sylvester Stallone.
Barney - Nick Nolte.
Patty Bouvier - Angelina Jolie.
Selma Bouvier - Winona Ryder.
Well, when you consider there’s another live-action Flintstones movie about to open, and a combination live-action/animated Rocky and Bullwinkle this summer (starring Robert De Niro (!) as Fearless Leader)(I am NOT making that up!), the probability of it happening to The Simpsons gets greater every day.
OTOH, I think it will happen only over Matt Groening’s dead body, and maybe not even then. He may have an Orson Welles-type* contract that specifies what cannot be done even after his death.
*Citizen Kane can never be colorized because Welles specified that it can never be altered even with technology yet to be invented, in perpetuity. But I guess there’s the standard TV clause that allows TV stations to edit it to fit a time slot and allow for commercials.
No ideas for the film, but you reminded me of a “Homer-esque” fellow who used to frequent a theater where I worked. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who thought so because one day he showed up wearing the “Homer Simpson – World’s Greatest Dad!” t-shirt. LOL – embracing his “Homerness”!
I want to be Ralph Wiggum, but it’s going to be quite a special effect to make it possible, ha!
There’s already been a live-action Simpson’s show, silly. It was the one where Homer tried to hide behind the bureau and slipped into the 3-dimensional world. He walked down a street as real peole stared, and went into an Adult Cake shop. They did him in 3-D digital animation.
Homer: “Maaarge, help me, , I’m stuck in the space-time continuum.”
Marge: “I’ll get Ned Flanders. He has a ladder.”
