… in which Celtic get a thoroughly deserved victory over the home side by scoring two tremendous goals to finish 3-1 on aggregate and advance to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup.
Can we FINALLY have some respect now? Please?
There aren’t enough :D’s in the world for how I feel right now
[sub]obligatory “soccer haters, please don’t bother” line goes here[/sub]
Celtic deserved it, but the scoreline was harsh on Liverpool. They could easily have won it before the last 15 minutes (when they seemed to give up). I thought Steven Gerrard played excellently, but Henrik Larsson and John Hartson were also superb.
I refer you to the answer my honorable friend gave some moments ago:
It’s Boavista in the semis. A very nice draw. No rubbish teams have got this far in the competition, of course, and they’ve done well in previous rounds but are certainly very beatable.
Boavista’s probably the easiest draw on paper, although I think we’ve played best in this competition in the games where we haven’t been the favourites.
BTW, I disagree that Liverpool “could easily have won it”. They missed a few good chances, but so did we. Overall I think we simply outplayed them.
I’m certainly not a soccer hater by any stretch. I’d gladly trade our basketball and baseball leagues for it. Unfortunately it’s rather difficult to follow on a regular basis from my end of the world. My apologies for attempting some humor in here. I’ll go back to my corner now.
