Liverpool v Celtic (spoilers)

… in which Celtic get a thoroughly deserved victory over the home side by scoring two tremendous goals to finish 3-1 on aggregate and advance to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup.

Can we FINALLY have some respect now? Please?

There aren’t enough :D’s in the world for how I feel right now

[sub]obligatory “soccer haters, please don’t bother” line goes here[/sub]

As a famous American might say Woooo Hoooo!

It’s probably very bad manners for a “neutral” like me to chip in here, but I’m sure you can imagine how I cheered.

Porto, Lazio or Boavista to come, so nothing too scary. Any preferences?

Whoohoo! Go me. It’s my birthday! It’s my birthday!

What?

Congrats, Celtic…have a drink on all us Aberdeen fans. Our boss won’t be having one for a while. :frowning: :frowning:

Oh, and happy birthday, CelticCowboy!

I don’t want Porto, after the hammering we got there a couple years ago!

Celtic deserved it, but the scoreline was harsh on Liverpool. They could easily have won it before the last 15 minutes (when they seemed to give up). I thought Steven Gerrard played excellently, but Henrik Larsson and John Hartson were also superb.

It was a good match to watch, for the neutral footie fan.

But as a life-long Liverpool fan it was hard to swallow, especailly in the context of how much they have thrown away already this year.

Some great goals by Celtic and a well deserved victory. I would like to see them go on to win it now. That’s all I have to say about that.

All I want to stop is the complete ragging I’m getting at work from the Celtic fans. Dammit!

I guess I should be more specific when I’m being a doink. We’re talking about the weird football type stuff you furriners play, right?

I refer you to the answer my honorable friend gave some moments ago:

It’s Boavista in the semis. A very nice draw. No rubbish teams have got this far in the competition, of course, and they’ve done well in previous rounds but are certainly very beatable.

Congratulations again.

Very good draw for Celtic, although the Man Utd/Real Madrid tie should be a cracker for the neutral too.

Boavista’s probably the easiest draw on paper, although I think we’ve played best in this competition in the games where we haven’t been the favourites.

BTW, I disagree that Liverpool “could easily have won it”. They missed a few good chances, but so did we. Overall I think we simply outplayed them.

I’m certainly not a soccer hater by any stretch. I’d gladly trade our basketball and baseball leagues for it. Unfortunately it’s rather difficult to follow on a regular basis from my end of the world. My apologies for attempting some humor in here. I’ll go back to my corner now.

Nothing personal CC, it’s just that what you intended as “humor” stopped being funny to us about 4,324 occurrences ago.

Ruadh, is this a bad time to mention wee Inver Callie Thistle?

Not as long as you don’t mind my mentioning wee Crystal Palace.

fair play to Calley Thistle, they wanted it more.

I just wish we had the squad to be able to challenge for 4 competitions
