Locals casinos

I’ve heard of “locals casinos” in Las Vegas and other big gambling towns, which tend to offer a different assortment of games, lower minimum bets, better odds, better comps, etc.

What I want to know is: Can anyone gamble at a “locals casino”, or do you need a Nevada ID or something? Or is it more like casinos without hotels, or in odd locations, or that don’t do a lot of advertising?

Yes

No

They have a test at the door. You have to pronounce “Nevada” properly to get in…

No, it’s just a term, as zomby says. I have one across the street. It’s just a farther drive from where most people are staying so that’s why tourists don’t go there. No hotel that I know of. There are two that DO have hotels but AREN’T close, and I wouldn’t consider them locals places. I don’t think there’s any hard an fast rule except not filled with as many people.

Most Nevadans try to not show their ID to anyone because the new one is hideous…
