Lois Lane vs Sarah Jane Smith

The girlfriend of The Man of Steel vs the companion of the 3rd:4th Time Lord.

Intelligent, resourceful, assertive investigative journalists…whose horizons were WAY expanded due to their SOs explorations and interactions.

Instead of some lame fight, I’d like to see who would scoop the other to get the big story.

Let’s say there are vague reports of killer salt&pepper shakers rolling around Metropolis, and the Caped and Scarfed ones are…elsewhere.

Which one has the best shot at breaking the top story?

I suspect Lois would make the scoop; Sarah would right the wrong, and then write up the story; Lois rights the wrong by writing the story.

Much as I love Sarah as a character, she never struck me as very interested in her writing career. Lois was always keen to hunt down a story. So Lois would get the scoop. I like Sarah better to hang out with though.

If the caped and scarfed one are elsewhere and have no involvment, then I’d say that Sarah-Jane saves the day AND beats Lois to the scoop. Lois just dies.

Just based on my own experiences watching/reading both “universes”, Sarah-Jane proved herself to be resourceful, capable, and self-reliant. She even came to the Doctor’s rescue more than a few times. Lois on the other hand always seemed like a simpering victim. She was always blundering into stupid situations where she had to be rescued. Without Superman on the scene, she’d be toast.

For cripes sake, Lois couldn’t even figure out that Superman and Clark were the same person!
