My cousin is coming to town tonight and hasn’t been to Long Island since she was little. I’d like to take her and my brother out to do some things unique to the locale. Any ideas? They are both 18 so winery tours are probably out
We might also spend a day in the city so any ideas there too are welcome.
Lots of people in Suffolk like to walk around Port Jeff.
Obviously going to a South Shore beach (none of that rocky North Shore stuff) might be nice if the weather allows.
Montauk.
Bayard Cutting or Planting Fields arboretums.
There are a number of historical places such as Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay.
Drive past the Amityville Horror house.
Sneak into King’s Park.
Hmmm. Yeah, going to the city is probably a good idea.
Where on Long Island? It’s a big place.
Well I live in Port Jefferson, but I have a car. I mean obviously generic activities I’d like to find the local version of, but unique experiences I’m willing to drive to.
Speaking of local activities, anyone know how to find local strawberry festivals?
Mattituck Strawberry Fest is this weekend. Just head east on Sound Ave…you’ll run right into it. You could probably google it. They usually have free admission deals. It’s only expensive if you ride the rides. They have carnival rides, music, fireworks and lots of strawberry foods. We always enjoy it.
Also, there is a trapeze place that you can go to in Smithtown. Google iFly. They teach you how to swing on the trapeze. Its fun and the guys that work there are really nice.
Go on a party fishing boat out of Captree. Good times. Everyone will catch fish.
That’s all I got right now.
