Greetings - just thought I’d post an intro since I finally cracked and registered after reading the posts here for a while. I’ve been reading Cecil’s column for many years on the internet and have a few of his books.
I’m not real good at intro threads, mostly because I’m not sure anyone really cares…I just thought that it made a better first post than replying to something.

I only ask because I had an online friend whose name ended in “Vet” and she turned out to be a veterinarian (although I see by your profile that you are a techie like me), and because I have some ties to George Washington University.

A few quick guidelines that’ll make your posting experience more pleasant.
The mens’ room is on the left as you’re facing them. I know the sign says ladies room, but those urinals are a give away.
No overnight guests unless you notify a moderator by 2 PM.
You are responsible for returning your padlock at the end of the semester.
Never mention the flat tax to Libertarian, or the movies of Brian DePalma to Bosda. Trust me.

Thanks, cuauhtemoc, you’re probably right. I got the “vet” part (well, except for the fact that the last time I made that assumption, I was completely wrong, as I explained above), but wasn’t sure about the “GW”. I hadn’t seen Gulf War abbreviated that way, but it makes sense.
Other posts mention military service, good bet.

Heres a question for you - why does my post count seem to be double the actual number? I noticed that on my OP the post count was 2 right after I posted it, my very first (honest!) post. Is this some kind of SD sucker prize? Or am I just so magnificent that my posts count twice?
