Look! It's the first MMP of spring!!

[Inklings geek hat on] idon’t think you ever find out how long the White Witch rules. I know that there were several hundred years of Happy Narnia after its creation, and that the White Witch was around from the beginning (through the meddling of a human child). I figure not more than maybe two hundred years.

Hey! I had a whole long post about the prophecy, and it just disappeared!

To recap: “When Adam’s flesh and Adam’s bone/Sits at Cair Paravel in throne/The evil time will be over and done”. There was a Typical Fantasy Prophecy about the children that had to be fulfilled, and it involved the Pevensies and Edmund’s betrayal.
On the other hand, Lewis didn’t put a huge amount of thought into Narnia, not the way Tolkien did. Things don’t follow logically. He never said what happened to all the other humans, or who rules Narnia after the Pevensies but before the Telmarines, or anything.

Window painted. Third load of laundry in the machine. When the window dries, we can hang the roman shade. I need to get the vacuum in there to clean the rug where the bed needs to go. Then I can wipe down the bed and put it in place. I’m going to wait till tomorrow to sew. I’m really tired and I don’t think I should do anything that requires any kind of precision.

I’ve got a hunk of pork thawing - if it thaws enough, it’ll go in the rotisserie for dinner tonight. Otherwise, we’ll eat it tomorrow.

Unless I fall asleep… <yawn>

OK, I confess. All I did this afternoon was finish the laundry. I’m tired and achy and I just couldn’t get in gear. I peeled the masking take off the window, shut the door, and decided to mess with it tomorrow. I stand by that decision.

Time to exercise a bit, drink some water, and go to bed. Would anyone like a nice copy of The Spiritual Practices of the Nija. Apparently ninjas can transform themselves into the different elements, and know the mind of God. I want to order ten copies fror Mr. Lissar. The book catalogue blurb is hysterical. It’s available through Ten Speed Press!

Busy busy busy weekend. Volunteer meeting yesterday morning, then lunch with friends, then running errands, then home for dinner and then hmmmm tired, so I watched a movie, then bed.

This morning, I need to buy a few groceries for lunch during the week, then it’s off to church, then off to create stuff for a sale we’re having later this month, then I’ll probably be exhausted and come home and veg…

How come there isn’t more time on the weekend? I have all these other things that I wanted to do!

OK, after being a slacker yesterday, I made another list. I make lots of lists.

Today’s plan - who knows how far we’ll get:1 - hang roman shade
2 - replace all plugs and the switch
3 - wipe down bed with Old English, then move it back in place
4 - install closet shelves (Steve made a second one to make better use of the space)
5 - put stuff back in closet
6 - put doors back on closet
7 - move chest back into room and wipe down with Old Eng
8 - move bookshelf back into room and wipe down with OE
9 - hang pictures
10 - take crap to the basement (this room had become a repository of crap)
11 - (eventually) remove light and install ceiling fan
12 - install curtain rods
13 - make drapes and valance
14 - make bed cover and sham
15 - close room until we need a guest roomWe should be able to accomplish 1-10 plus 12 at least. Then, if I’m not too beat, I’ll make the valance and start pinning the side hems of the drapes. In fact, once I finish reading the comics on line, I’ll be heading to the green room. I’ll get rid of the drop cloths (an old sheet and a plastic tablecloth) and all the crap on the bed, and wipe down the bed with OE - that should be quiet enough so FCD can sleep undisturbed. I can also start taking some of the excess crap downstairs - it’s all stacked up in the soon-to-be-former red room.

Gotta get in gear. That mess won’t clean itself!

Good morning one and all. I’ve been up for awhile, cruising the SDMB.

Mr. Taters has invited his mother over for dinner tonight so she can watch Ron (Tater Salad) White’s You Can’t Fix Stupid on the Comedy Channel. I can’t help it, I like him. I find him funnier than the other three Blue Collar Comedy guys.

So, with the company coming, that means I must clean house. Yeah, it needs to be done, but I wasn’t feeling overly ambitious today. Sigh…

In addition, I have to go to the store for ingredients for tonight’s dinner. Another trip I wasn’t planning on making. Oh well…

We had corned beef, cabbage and potatoes for chop-chop last night. It was good.

I have nothing mundane or exciting to report. Off for now.

Break time. The closet is reassembled and filled. The plugs, switch, and fan are installed. The roman shade and curtain rods are installed. The furniture is all wiped down and in place. Some crap has gone downstairs, more is staged to go. Several boxes have been unpacked. Some trash has been tossed. Carpet has been vacuumed.

I’ve got to put the books back on the bookshelf and make the bed. I’m also going to pick out some artwork and pictures to hang on the walls. I found a bunch of family pics - I’m thinking the wall over the bookshelf will be a good spot for a photo gallery. Then I can finish cleaning out the remaining crap in the red room.

But first, we need to install the cellular shade in the family room, since the roman shade in the bedroom came from this room.

I may actually cut some fabric before today is done! Woohoo! Go me!

I’m deeply impressed with your accomplishments, FCM. Good luck with the getting ready for company, Taters!

Not quite as accomplished as I’d like. Didn’t make it to the groceries, yet, but did re-pot about 10 houseplants. A couple of them are actually plants from last summer that I was able to overwinter in the basement. Hopefully they’ll be ready to be potted outside in a month.

The craft stuff this afternoon was mostly hypertufa containers, which was messy, but fun. There were a bunch of us so that we could take turns mixing the glop and actually making containers. But it was tiring and I’m sure I’ll be achy tomorrow.

Gotta run…

I’m back from Huntsville and one of the most exciting hockey games I’ve ever seen. The score was tied at the end of regulation (3 20 minute periods). The playoff rules in this league call for another 20 minute overtime, sudden death. So the guys played another 20 minutes. Still tied. So they played another 14 or so minutes before one of our guys scored. Those were some tired (but happy) young men climbing on the bus about 1 am. Thank goodness we stayed in Huntsville instead of driving back last night! We play them again Tuesday night.

All of the guys on the team had their hair cut into a Mohawk for the playoffs. I support the team but I am not cutting my hair. I’m going to see what I can do with gel and a banana clip for Tuesday, however. No pictures will be taken.

Bought a lottery ticket on the way back to the house from the home of the friends I had ridden with. Won $100. I’m a very happy camper!!

Wow, what a weekend! Still not as ambitious as FCM. Dang woman, how do you find all that energy? I still haven’t made the valances for our curtains we hung about a month ago!

But…

Yesterday:
We dropped off a couch and overstuffed chair at Goodwill, on the way to my dad’s to decide what will stay and what will go of his stuff, when he moves in. We stopped off at the Depot first to get paint swatches for him to pick a color for his room. Heavenly Blue was his choice, very pretty. He’s not bringing too much, but we are converting two rooms for him into his bedroom and a study.

Then we checked out a storage place for all the crap we have to move out, but want to sell in a garage sale.

Then we went the furniture store and bought an entertainment center. It is massive! Absolutely gorgeous. We also got a cool headboard and new nightstand for dad. His nightstand was so old, I remember it from when I was a kid. 40 years ago?? Good Lord. It was missing handles and everything.

So we (stupidly) picked up the furniture and set it up ourselves. We almost dropped one of the extremely heavy piers, but both our backs are ok, thank God. We had no idea they weighed that much. I told Tom we are never moving those again. I’ll post pics after it is all set up. Tom is still working on it today.

I took the dog to the vet today, and his ear infection is all cleared up. Yay! I also took our new dog Lucy for a walk, during which she nearly ripped my arm out of its socket when she started chasing a squirrel.

I also did 3 loads of laundry, 3 days worth of dishes (), and meal-planned and grocery shopped. In a few minutes, I’m going to go assemble and put in the oven a lasagna made from leftover skettie sauce.

Oh yeah, I heard from my brother in Denver today. He’s coming to visit around the end of April, when Dad is moving in. So we’ll have an extra pair of hands.

I’m too old for all this moving. I’m never moving again. Except my office. Tomorrow.

Howdy y’all! I’m working (sorta) on the MMP for tomorrow morning. Just thought I’d say is all.

The neighbor’s fight seemed to be about how much time and money he is spending on fixing up an old truck in their back yard. Apparently she thinks he’s spending too much time and money on it and he doesn’t. Ahh, the traumas and woes of surburbia!

Ok, back to figuring out what I’m gonna say tomorrow.

Good night all!

Hi swampy! How about writing about a Bass Fishing Tournament? And the people who attended. And other related stuff. Just a suggestion.

SCL, how about a pic from the back? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease?! Congrats on the game. Hope they keep doing well.

Rebo, sounds to me like you’re giving FCM some competion in the productivity department…

I’ve been grocery shopping and run a load of dishes through the washer. Need to put some of my lunch together for tomorrow. And make sure that all the recyclables are out on the curb. And do a general round of picking up.

Inpired by FCM’s (and now Rebo’s) productivity, I’m thinking about re-doing the storage near the kitchen. Technically on the way down to the basement. Had an idea for improving it without making it hard to lug stuff up and down the stairs. Like every other opening in this house, it’s pretty narrow.

Guess I’ll go get something done…

GT

OK, everything’s done but the sewing. The room is looking very comfy and welcoming. Oh, and I need to pick out the photos and artwork to go on the walls. And finish sewing. Then I’ll post the rest of the pics.

Then we’ll start the next room.

Why am I so hungry? I was hungry right after I ate dinner? Is my body conniving to make me morbidly obese and no longer able to fit into any of my clothes?

Good evening. Work was meh. Time to work out and maybe eat something. Even though I shouldn’t be hungry.

well - the weekend started off okay - I took my car for an oil change, planned on seeing my therapist then getting my hair done. But as I was leaving the mechanic’s it became apparent that I was sick sick sick sick. So I cancelled my appointments, picked up a few cans of chicken soup, came home and crawled into bed, where I spent most of the weekend.
I’ve been taking vitamin C and sucking on Cold Eeze tablets, and tomorrow I will see my doc and hopefully get a scrip for antibiotics. Because I cannot be sick. Competition is coming and I really want to be part of it this year. I missed last year due to bronchitis.
The good thing about being sick is I don’t eat. So I lost a pound so far. I also see my band doc tomorrow and he will not be pleased because I haven’t lost anything since my last visit in November. I haven’t gained either. Well - actually I’ve gained and lost and gained and lost and I’m exactly the same as then. So I really have to get on the ball. It’s my own doing tho. I have to take responsibility for it. anyway, to sleep now for the night. “see” you in the next MMP.

There are? too many? question marks? in my above post?

No! Stop being sick, rosie! Get well!
My Best Friend phoned today to say that she has a kidney infection and has had a temp of 102F since last Wednesday. She is unable to eat, but it taking fluids and antibiotics and is getting better. She isn’t allowed to be sick, either. She and her husband have so many health crises that it makes me feel guilty to be so healthy. I offered some of my stored energy (fat) to give her greater fuel reserves. She didn’t take me up on it, so I don’t get to be thinner.
