In my MPSIMS thread about my parents, I mentioned that I’m trying to find a new phone system for them so that my mother can always have one handy while she recovers from surgery. I’ve bought two already and neither one fits the bill. Trying to Google the features they want/need while trying to catch up on the work time I’ve already lost dealing with this mess is just overwhelming, so I’m hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.
I can usually find manuals online if I have the model number, in order to double check that the thing does what the marketing copy says, so if you can provide that, great.
So if you have a phone with ALL of these features, please speak up!
-
Cordless, three or four handsets (or expandable, if you don’t actually have the extra handsets yourself)
-
10 or more speed dial numbers (different from searchable phone book; they want to be able to press, say, 2 and TALK to dial my number).
-
Large buttons: Don’t have to be oversized, just not tiny and should have some separation; my dad has deformed hands because of rheumatoid arthritis and can’t punch tiny ones that are close together. The handset should also not be ridiculously small, for the same reason. Something like this should be good. (This is a lot like my phone, which he’s tried and liked.)
-
Chain dialing with insertable pauses: They have no long distance service on their home line, so they use calling cards for LD. They want to be able to program the calling card number and PIN into the speed dial locations, like they have now.
-
Intercom between phones (with the ability to talk between them, not just paging). This is so if my mom needs something, she can “call” my dad at one of the other phones and tell him what she needs without having to get up.
The phone I linked to above would be perfect, but it doesn’t seem to have the speed dial, just the searchable phone book, which I KNOW they would hate.
Price isn’t really an object.
Any suggestions?
