Looking for a good pull up bar

I’m looking to buy a free standing pull up bar because having one attached to a wall in my house just isn’t an option.

I’ve been thinking about this one

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this and can give some feedback. If anyone has any other suggestions I’m more than happy to hear it out! Thanks everyone!

I think you forgot to include the link to the bar in question, hence the scarce feedback.

My general advice is that your neighbourhood gym or Crossfit box probably has better (more solid/stable) chin-up bars than what you can buy for home, and would allow you to train those other muscles, cardio, etc. Also, many public parks have chin-up pipes.

For your own safety, look at this first!

Wait a minute, why does Capt. America need a pull-up bar? :dubious:

I like this one.

Two caveats though.

You need a door that’s a foot from being in a corner. Further from the corner is better.
You need a solid molding at the top of the door frame. Your full weight will be hanging from it.

It also comes with brackets that attach to the wall. I know you said you weren’t interested in wall mounting, but this one can be removed from the brackets and stored in case your objection was to having it permanently hanging on the wall.

If you’re looking to do bodyweight exercises, why not go for a power tower?

I can’t recommend a specific one. I used to date a guy who had one and it seemed like as long as it is sturdy, it gets the job done.
