I am looking for a replica of the tri-blade from the movie “The Sword And The Sorcerer”, and Google isn’t helping at all. It doesn’t have to actually shoot out the two smaller blades, of course.
Serious question- was one ever mass produced? It would be a more complicated and more costly thing to produce (two extra blades plus a dagger in the hilt) for a movie most people have never heard of.
It is the greatest sword prop of all time, with a weight that would make Schwarzenegger in his prime think twice. Again, Google hasn’t been any help at all-no matter how I ask the question all I get are a million and six different pictures from that movie and any other sword and sorcery movie in existence.
There may not be one that’s commercially available. You may want to think about someplace like Etsy, or a similar place where someone could make a replica.
That’s the kind of the thing on offer at the black smith booth at ANY Ren Fair. Not sure those sweaty dreadlock dudes care about international web presence.
I hope you only want to hang it on the wall, or something. With three blades it must weigh almost three times as much as a single sword (as already observed). Worse, with all that weight and moment arm, it’ll exert huge torque on your wrist. And I’ll bet the damned blades keep rattling against each other and threaten to snap off at the base. *t has to be the most ludicrous, clumsy sword ever designed. In a reasonable universe, even a fantasy one, it’d be made of aluminum. Or tin. Which would make it pretty useless as a fighting weapon, but would at least yet you hold the damned thing up.
The way to use it would be to arrange to change swords with your opponent and throw him a bunch or attacks that he has to move quickly to block. Then disarm him when he sprains or breaks his wrist.
Believe me, at no time has the word “practical” ever crossed my mind.
Right, if everything goes according to plan here and all your hopes are realized the best you’ll be able to do is beat a home intruder to death with a sharp tuning fork.
Maybe Gillette would be interested? Wield one in each hand and you have the perfect razor for a hydra.
I don’t know where to find a sword that pointlessly deploys little mini-swords but I would like to get my hands on a sword that can be assembled like a movie sniper rifle that Clancy Brown’s Kurgen uses in The Highlander so I can carry it around in a briefcase instead of wearing a raincoat to Madison Square Garden.

I’d say fantasy prop swords fall within mall ninja shit:
They never made and sold reproductions? This surprises me. I know they made and sold them for other swords in the movie and series.
It has been many years since I’ve seen the movie but am I remembering correctly that you can also fire off the extra two blades with a switch somehow?
A quick Google reveals many mass produced replicas. They all come in one piece. What the hell is the point in spending that kind of money on a replica of The Kurgan’ sword if it doesn’t disassemble and come with a special briefcase???
Yep. It is stupidly magnificent!
I found an image of a real sword from India, a 19th century blade. The two side blades fold inward.
The image came from the web site Oriental Arms, which was selling it, but unfortunately they’ve taken down the listing (presumably because it sold).
Not at all the same as a weapon designed to cut you with three blades simultaneously in parallel, like a Mach 3 disposable razor if made by a medieval swordsmith. (Credit to @Stranger_On_A_Train for the inspiration.) But funny that something like that was actually made in real life, not as a movie prop or to sell in a mall souvenir shop.
There was also a tri-blade hairpin made in China, here is a whole article on it. For those who want the Sword and Sorcerer experience, but also to keep your hair bun in place.
Unfortunately, despite finding three-bladed examples from real life, I cannot find anyone selling a prop version of the movie sword. I did find someone who made a mod for it in Skyrim though, for anyone who has that game and wants to cut up dragons and bandits and giant spiders with one in the game.
Yeah, in certain times and places such swords were common. The style was to fight with a sword in one hand and a dagger in the other. The two smaller blades were meant to close on your opponent’s dagger and snatch it out of their hand.
Kind of like a sai I guess.
Except a sai isn’t a knife or sword; it’s blunt and it’s basically a tapered baton with two side prongs to lock an opponent’s weapon or snag their clothing.
But it would work the same way more or less.
Oh wow, Oblivion (the 4th Elder Scrolls game, the one before Skyrim) also had at least the idea for a mod to add the sword.
But still can’t find a physical version. You’d think someone would be crazy enough to at least make a one-time imitation just to say they did it. It’s such an iconic sword.
I did find a YouTube video where a guy pointed out that a bagh nakh (“tiger blade” in Hindi) is a similar principle; it has blades in parallel, though they are shorter and more practical.
I mean, even a trident is a similar principle (used as a weapon); three punctures are better than one. Though again, the tines are a lot shorter. I think it’s the size of the blades that is what makes the sword ridiculous, not necessarily the concept of three in parallel.
I think the only other sword I am looking for is the ceremonial sword of Sinanju from the Destroyer pulp series.
I loved the movie. I have read several Remo comics. I have never actually read any of the books. What is this sword like?
