Looking for Fun Writers (Volunteer)

First off, thank you to the SDMB administration for giving me the “OK” to post this.

I have recently started a [meant to be, anyway] humor website basically for a creative outlet. The main slant is the same as that other parody website (They don’t take submissions from Jane Ordinary so I decided to try it myself). I’m also going to try to do other things as well, like reviews and cartoons.

Right now, I am looking for contributions to the “news” page, as well as “Letters to the Editor.” The site doesn’t credit authors – it’s really just for fun and not anything that will bring worldwide (or even neighborhood, really) recognition. Please check it out if you are so inclined.

The site is www.ficklenews.com. Any questions/comments/suggestions about this can be addressed through the site by emailing editor@ficklenews.com.

Thanks again to the Administrators, and I hope some of you submit articles!

“404 Page Cannot Be Found.”

Hmmm…the link didn’t work for me either, but if you put in www.ficklenews.com, it should work (it does for me). I am an idiot when it comes to links.

I think the problem is the period at the end of your link in the first one.

www.ficklenews.com works

Thank you very much, GMRyujin

You’ve put a comma after the dot com - that’s why it doesn’t work.
Try this

Why no credit for the writers? Being able to cite a pub credit (even one on the net) is a big incentive - also the only incentive when money isn’t on offer…

I am actually totally open to this. For some reason, I was tied into the whole annonymity of the web, but if it does matter (especially as incentive) then I WILL credit writers. Are there other opinions on this?

Are you looking for regular writers or just the occasional article?

From what I’ve seen so far, it seems like one could just write a goofy, entirely false news story. Am I correct?

If I were to write, I’d want credit, please. It might not be a dealbreaker for me, but we’ll see.

Sounds like a lot of fun, and as I’m hoping to be a writer someday, maybe this will help.

Yea, I won’t write without credit (unless you’re paying very well!), but I’d consider doing some articles for ya with a byline. Even if it’s a nonsensical one, i.e. “GMRyujin, reporting for FickleNews in between coffee breaks”

Well, I like what I see so far.

And the dog is cute.

I will give credits. I’m officially amending my statement about not giving credits. I will.

Coo. You might want to post any writer’s guidelines you may have (here, on the site, both).

Well, I’m looking to be a writer someday, too. It’s just so damn hard!

You can totally write a goofy, entirely false story. As stated above, I have amended the “policy” and I will be giving authors credit.

Yeah, I’m up for it. I’ll have to try and remember to e-mail you when I get home from work. In the meantime, if you’re interested, there’s links on page 2 of the thread linked to in my sig for reviews I did of Crossroads with Brittany Spears and Exorcist II. I would link to them directly, but I’m at work and they have the browsers set up here so I can’t see the address bar to cut & paste the url for a link.

As far as guidelines, I’d say under 1000 words. Obviously, use your good/bad-taste-omoter. I’m really open.

Dammit! I lost my good/bad-taste-omoter in the war!

Sounds like an option. I’ll e-mail you if I have any ideas. Thanks a bunch for the opportunity.

I’ll be there.

But, I’m off to bed now. Worked from 5:00am till 8:30pm today, currently unwound and seepy… so seepy…

[singing] No “L” no “L” I used no “L” [/s]

G’nite

I’ll prepare a few news articles; if you are looking for regular writers I’m interested. I’ll send them out in a few days.

I am hereby enacting my one and only BUMP. Thanks to anyone who is interested. I stick by my amendment to credit authors. Thanks again,
