looking for old pizza ad

I think it was Round Table but not sure. When I lived in Washington there was an ad talking about how all of their ingredients were fresh, and there was a guy telling another guy things like “next we use sauce” and the second guy would be “go to the freezer, get the can” which was always wrong because all the ingredients are fresh. At the very end, the first guy tells number two to get something that actually is in the freezer and number two runs off all excited “I’m helping!”.

Anyone have a clue about this ad? If so, know where I can find a copy?

Not complaining, just wondering why is Cafe Society more appropriate?

Threads discussing advertising go in Cafe Society. Threads discussing food go in Cafe Society. So that’s where this one goes.

I remember this ad because they used to air it on the radio quite a bit over 30 years ago. However, unlike old TV commercials and YouTube, I don’t know where you can find old radio ads on the web.

Do you remember what pizza company it was?

Round Table Pizza.

“Oh, boy! Go to the shelf and get the box! I’m HELPING!!!”

I definitely remember it. The spouse and I quote it fairly often even now (when we do something sort of uselessly helpful, we’ll say, “I’m helping!”)

I think this is the same one that has the dumb guy asking “Do we have to make our own soap? Do we have to work on Christmas?”

And yeah, it was Round Table. It was a Round Table manager interviewing a guy who worked at another pizza joint.

I remember this as a radio ad back in the 80’s. They also had a series of TV ads with two guys, all playing off the idea that their pizzas were made from fresh ingredients and lots of them.

Guy #1: Oh, no, I put too much cheese on Mr. Johnson’s pizza! Clumsy me!
Guy #2: glares at #1
#1: Oh, no, now I’ve put extra sausage on Mr. Johnson’s pizza! Guess he gets an extra big pizza tonight!

Guy #1 puts on his coat. Guy #2 hands him a pizza box.
#2: Goodnight, Mr. Johnson.

To be fair, Round Table makes (made?) a hell of a pizza.

As an update, in frustration I emailed Round Table and they responded quickly.

“Unfortunately, we do not have those spots online for access and are unable to copy and send due to talent restrictions. I did a quick search on Google/YouTube, but cannot find by name. My guess is that if it’s on there, it’s in a montage of old commercials.”

Sigh. I’d love to be able to find that thing online, I have a friend who trades “I’m helping” back and forth with me, she’d die laughing if I could find the ad.

I found this. Not quite as you describe, but similar. Is it the right one?

No, but thanks much for trying! Apparently the one I’m looking for was a radio ad only.

I’ve been searching for these radio ads for years, my buddy Ricky and I still do the routines 30 years on. The best one was the Round Table guy working with the new guy who had worked at Soggys Pizza, and after one too many comments about fake cheese and the canned tomato sauce the Round Table guy exclaims “who’d want to work at a place called Soggys anyways?”

God I loved those commercials, “I’m Helping!!”

Thanks for remembering these as well.

Likewise, I would love to find the TV commercial for Snappy Tomato Pizza (Cincinnati, OH) that was made in the late 1980s. The song was awesome.
