Looking for Philadelphia ideas

I’m taking a short trip to Philadelphia this week, and I’m coming to you for some advice on where to go for eats and drinks. Looking for a bar/pub I can get to fairly easily after a hockey game, and some decent reasonably-priced restaurants, nothing fancy. Just a chance to try the stuff the locals enjoy, and not fall into the tourist traps.

What have you got for me?

Just bumping this up for the Doper “day shift”.

Sorry, don’t know the area down by the stadium – can’t help you.

McFadden’s is a bar open year-round at Citizen’s Bank Park, right across from the hockey arena.

Some threads you might find interesting:

Not a whole lot there. Are you walking or driving?

Head up to Packer Ave to the Turf Club. You can get some eats and drinks and drop a few bucks on the ponies as well.

I didn’t know the Flyers were home this weekend.

Thanks for the help - the pub near the hockey game was for my brother, who’s there tonight for a game (or so he told me, anyway!). I’ll be arriving tomorrow and will more likely be hanging out in the “historic” area of town to do all the touristy things, so any suggestions for that area will be most welcome also.

Thanks for the links to the older threads - they’ve given me a few ideas!

if you are here on new year’s day, the white dog cafe does an ab. fab. pajama brunch. it is by penn but very easy to get to.

in the historic area try reading terminal, independence brew pub is there as well across the street.

there are lots of eateries on south street from about 6th street to front.

there is a nifty first ladies exhibit at the constitution centre.

how long are ya in town for?

Go to ‘Pesto’ on Broad St. Take the subway to Snyder ave and walk a block North on Broad st to Pesto. You want local ‘flavors’, you’ll get them there, with outstanding food.

If you are dining on Sat night, let me know and I can get you ‘taken care of’ as only an Italian guy from Philly can. Or do the other lame crap that was mentioned in here.
