I’m having friends over for Italian night and I want to play some stereotypical Italian music in the background. Do any of you have a suggestion for how to best do this? I did some searching on Pandora and the only stations I saw were modern Italian music.
Italian Opera?
Mob Hits are fun too.
Find a Dean Martin album?
Funiculi, funicula! Try this: Italian Dinner Music, Italian Restaurant Music, Background Music
Louis Prima! Classic via the film “Big Night.”
The cheesy song from the spaghetti scene in Lady and the Tramp.
Volare sung by Dom Modugno
Luna Mezzo Mare sung by Dean Martin
Lazy Mary sung in Italian sung by some guy
Medley of Italian romantic songs played by the Andre Rieu Orchestra
I don’t see how you can go wrong with Frank Sinatra.
That would be Bella Notte.
Definitely this.
I laugh because that’s exactly what I was thinking. That and “Volare.”
These two are all you really need, but for the right occasion, Bella Notte can add that little something extra.
Overly stereotypical:
La donna è mobile, trans: “Bitches be crazy” is one you’ve heard.
Funiculì, Funiculà as mentioned, usually when you’re making the food.
Tarantella maybe not the most appropriate, but if you don’t care about accuracy.
Godfather theme/soundtrack.
Dino “Dean Martin” Crocetti, and Pierino “Perry” Como, and Frank “Frank Sinatra” Sinatra.
If you want to go the classical route - Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons. Not sure how “restaurant-y” it might be though.
